PRE-CONFERENCE MEETINGS, PARALLEL LUNCH TIME EVENTS AND POST CONFERENCE SIDE-EVENT.

PRE-CONFERENCE

1. The ICC Bureau will meet prior to the Conference on Sunday 4th November at Le Royal Hotel. A separate agenda is being prepared by the ICC Chairperson and the ICC Geneva Representative. Registration will be available from 08.00 – 09.00 at the Le Royal hotel foyer. Contact - Ms Katharina Rose, ICC Geneva Representative: E: [email protected].

2. An NGO Forum will be held for a day and a half prior to the Conference from 4th -5th November at a separate venue (to be advised by ACHRS). It will provide recommendations for the ICC and NHRIs to consider at the Conference. NGO Forum representatives will be invited to provide input during the Conference. NGO representatives will need to fund their participation to the NGO Forum and Conference. PLEASE NOTE SEPARATE REGISTRATION REQUIRED. 3. The Government of Norway and UNICEF will host an event on 4th November at 18.00

at Le Royal Hotel on the occasion of the release of the summary publication of Championing Children's Rights: A Global Study of Independent Human Rights Institutions for Children by UNICEF's Office of Research - Innocenti. The presentation of the publication will be followed by a welcome cocktail. Invitations will be sent to registered conference participants. Contact person Razan Jouaneh -UNICEF: [email protected]

DURING CONFERENCE

4. The ODIHR/OSCE will introduce a Handbook for NHRIs on Protecting and Promoting Women's Rights and Gender Equality in the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Region. This lunch time event will be held on Tuesday 6th November 13.15 – 14.30.

5. The ICC Chairperson and Danish Institute on Human Rights requested a signing of an MOU between the ICC and the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The signing will take place during the morning coffee break on Wednesday 7th November 10.30-11.00.

6. The Danish Institute on Human Rights will host a lunch time side-event on the release

of a Handbook for NHRIs on Reproductive Rights. This lunch time event will be held on Wednesday 7th November 12.45-14.00.

POST-CONFERENCE

7. The ICC Working Group on Human Rights and Business (WGHRB) will hold a half-day

side-event on ‘Business, Women’s and Children’s Rights’. It then will also hold a WGHRB meeting for WG members half day (afternoon). The side-event and WGHRB meeting will be held on Thursday 8th November. These events will take place at the Jordan Chamber of Industry. Please kindly note that there is no OHCHR funding available for NHRIs to stay on an additional night and additional costs in attending this side-event must be borne by the NHRIs. However the WG will pay for venue/translation and refreshments. OHCHR funding for the Conference concludes Wednesday 7th November. OTHER EVENTS

8. After the Conference the Palestinian Independent Commission on Human Rights Commission (PICHR) will host a one-day roundtable discussion in Ramallah on the role of NHRIs in conflict situations on the 9th November. There will also be a two-day field trip for roundtable participants on how the ICHR functions and will be held from 10th – 11th November. The PICHR will invite those NHRIs that operate in conflict or post-conflict situations. This is a PICHR event and not an ICC or JNCHR event. The PICHR will assist with some funds for accommodation and food within Palestine. Any additional costs must be borne by the invited NHRIs. The PICHR will fund 20 NHRIs from the 4 ICC regions. Note that participants will need to travel from Amman to the checkpoint on the 8th November. As Palestine is under Israeli control visa issues will be a significant issue to consider prior to travel.
