APPLY TO HPLRP:

On September 1, 2019, the District of Columbia Department of Health (DC Health) willaccept applications for the Health Professional Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP). Theprogram provides loan repayment services to eligible providers practicing in HPLRP-certifiedService Obligation Sites (SOS) in the District. New provider applications will be acceptedfrom September 1, 2019 – October 30, 2019. The HPLRP will issue up to nine (9) award contracts to primary care, mental health anddental providers, including: physicians, dentists, dental hygienists, registered nurses, midwives,advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, licensed clinical social workers, clinicalpsychologists, and professional counselors. Award contracts will cover two years ofparticipation and award contract amounts will be equivalent to 44 percent of a provider’s totaleligible debt - up to a maximum of $66,810 for physicians and up to $36,744 for all other eligibleprimary care providers. Providers interested in the program must be employed or have an employment contract with acertified Service Obligation Site (SOS) to provide direct patient care for at least 40 hours perweek. A site must be an approved SOS for a provider to be eligible for the HPLRP. To becomean SOS, a site must be a public or nonprofit entity located in a Health Professional Shortage orMedically Underserved Area/Population (HPSA/MUA/MUP) and must submit a SiteCertification Application to the HPLRP. HPLRP applications, including recommendationletters and loan verification information, must be completed and submitted to DC Healthby October 30, 2019.

The anticipated contract start date for selected applicants is March 2020.
