program book for jazz great houston person
DESCRIPTION
The Smithsonian Institute and others designated one month for an annual public spotlight on jazz. Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) is intended to draw public attention to the glories of jazz as both a historical and living treasure. The idea is to encourage musicians, concert halls, schools, colleges, museums, libraries, and public broadcasters to offer special programs on jazz every April. To celebrate 2015 JAM, the Tennessee Valley Jazz Society will offer several activities including jazz great Houston Person. Mr. Person is an American jazz tenor saxophonist and record producer. Although he has performed in the hard bop and swing genres, he is most experienced in and best known for his work in soul jazz.TRANSCRIPT
