Over September we held a series of Children's song writing workshops for our Kinglake Ranges PrimarySchools. The song Writing Workshop were developed to offer the children an opportunity to put down in words all that is great about living in the Kinglake Ranges. It’s time to celebrate all the wonderful things about living in our region and give the children a voice through song. The project involved the local primary schools of Kinglake West, Kinglake Middle, Kinglake, Strathewan, Toolangi and Flowerdale primary schools. David & Merelyn Carter who are famously known throughout our country as 'Carter & Carter' nationally recognised as Golden Guitar Award Winners for their song writing and singing, facilitated the workshops. David & Merelyn are Kinglake residents and were excited to work with our Primary school Children to encourage and develop their interest and skills in music and the arts. Through engaging the children we are developing a more sustainable cultural identity. The result of the workshop is that each school has written a wonderful bluegrass song with the support of Carter and Carter and will be performing the songs for you. Along with our fabulous bands this is a day not to miss!
