Hello, everyone. Today, I will present the paper, A fast and stable explicit integration method by matrix exponential operator for large scale circuit simulation. This is a collaborated work with my colleague Peng Du, and my advisor, Prof. Cheng. In this work, we introduce a efficient explicit method, which can perform large time step marching without the constraints of stability. At the beginning of the design stage, the circuit simulation models the characteristics of devices so that designers can have accurate estimation for designs. However, as the technology scales down, the increasing size of modern design makes circuit simulation as a bottleneck for the over flow. Today, a design with millions gates are common, and the full-chip verification can spend several days to several weeks.

Therefore, there is a demand of fast circuit-level simulation. In the research community, many researchers utilize the power of the multi-core processor or the cluster machine to parallelize the circuit simulation to reach a significant speedup. On the other hand, many novel algorithms are also proposed, such as applying model-order reduction to reduce the problem size and new numerical integration method to improve the performance of transient analysis. 22QuotesCongratulations to Professor Kuh.
