RFID abv. Radio Frequency Identification or Auto idContains 2 main parts :

1.Tag reader2.Tag

Since 1970 but has high costs to run and use

WHAT IS REALLY IS?

Data stored in chip and waits to be read Using the battery or the electromagnetic field start

sending waves to tag readerThe tag reader start to interpret data to digitalAt last start to process data and do something special

HOW IT WORKS ?

Tag1.Contains a metal coil (antenna)(sometimes ink)

+chip .2.Set on an special frequency

3.Save and send important data to tag reader in

analog4.Stores up to 2kb of data

TAG

5. There are 3 diff erent kinds: *Active: working on battery(car) *Semi-passive: on battery1.Continuesly send the data to tag reader 2.Long distance (about 30m) and has more complicated Hw!3.Additional battery will boost the range up to 100m *Passive:(no battery needed) (on goods) 1.Rely on tag reader as a power source 2.Works up to 20m 3.Lower cost

Diff erent types: 1.Read-only 2.Read-write 3.WORM

TAG KINDS

Barcodes should be visible but RFIDs can be hiddenBarcodes crash = no work any moreBarcodes only presents simple data like name and

priceBarcodes should scan one by oneRFIDs are more accurate and safeBarcodes are read-only bud RFIDs can be changed

updated or locked

BARCODE VS. RFID

First they made some tapping credit cards instead of swiping ones cause they had the risk of skimming data

The Google pushed to NFC payments as Google walletCreated own phone Nexus S with built-in NFC and it’s

own app The app stored credit card data Then you tap your phone instead of tapping credit

card NFC = near field communicationAlso can read passive RFIDs and show the info. Stored Smart posters & NFC & giving off s

Small and simple even u can plant them under skin It can be far away from tag reader but worksThey are permanently usable (long life)

RFID ADVANTAGES

1.Stores 2. Public transportation 3.Traffi c Control(fine…) 4.Toll 5.Security systems ( like locks)6.Sport like RFID champion chip…RFID balls … etc.7.Human & Animal Identification

WHERE TO USE ?

A campaign has been established who are anti-RFIDs they are by Germans

Their main reasons : 1.the tags are readable from distance without the owners knowledge!2.when you buy sth using your credit card connected to RFIDs the seller can get additional info. About you!
