How to Register for Professional Learning
Registration is easy!
Please refer to the event you are interested in for registration details specific to that event.
Payment Methods:
In Person: Cash, Debit, Credit or Business Cheque payable to Oxford Community Child Care will be accepted. (No personal cheques).
Hours: M/T/W: 9am to 4pm, Thurs: 9am to 7:30pm, Friday: 9am to 3:30pm
Registration forms can be emailed to you for inclusion with cheque payments.
By Mail: Cash or Business Cheque payable to Oxford Community Child Care will be accepted (No personal cheques).

Online: Eventbrite registrations will accept payments with Debit, Visa or Mastercard. You may also select to pay by cheque.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
You MUST register for the event using the method referred to in the description of the event.
Some events have limited spaces. Register early to avoid disappointment!
Bring your ticket with you. If you’re not on the list and you do not have a ticket, no entrance.
Registration and payment at the door are not accepted. Advance registration only.
Registering a group? You MUST enter individual names and emails. We need to account for all registrants.
We have tried all the combinations on Eventbrite successfully. If you are having difficulties, try clearing your cache or check
your permissions/security settings.
Payment has to be received to hold your spot for the event you are registered for.
Registrations may be transferred to another person but are not refundable. Please notify if you are unable to attend and
someone else is taking your spot.
Once an event is full, registration will be closed.
You cannot register after the closing date or after an event is full. Registrations will not be accepted.
Certificates issued by OELA will now only be available by email.

The Magic Rally Hour
September 24, 2016, 8:30-3:30 In support of Continuous Professional Learning for Educators
working in Before and After School Programs.
Join us for a one-day conference designed to aide educators in their
pursuit of program development, professional networking, and to rally
together to create a strong cohesive voice in the early childhood community.

Stories Rock!

During this workshop we will create a set of story stones to use in your program! We will talk about how we can use story stones to develop language and communication skills, and how background knowledge is revealed through what the children share with you
while playing with the story stones.

Oxford Mentor Meeting (OMN)
September 28, 2016, 1:00pm-2:00pm
The Oxford Mentor Network through consultation and recommendations will provide
current ongoing information and mentoring to educators and community child care
programs who work with children age 0 – 12 years and their families within Oxford
County. Educators are invited to attend a professional learning opportunity that
takes place the first hour of each meeting. The Oxford Mentor Network’s vision is for
Oxford County educators to be lifelong learners and to take responsibility for their
own learning to participate in ongoing reflective practice and collaborative
discussions with others.

SWIS (See What I See)
Woodstock Art Gallery Exhibit Runs: October 14, 2016-November 2016
See What I See will be mounted in partnership with Good Beginnings, Oxford Community Child Care, Tavistock Preschool and the Woodstock Art Gallery
to celebrate children as “...competent, capable of complex thinking, curious and rich in potential (reference, “How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH)
Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years)”. The images on display were taken by children from birth to age 12, using digital cameras or iPads to
capture an unedited moment. Children are attracted to what is happening now and in front of them.
See What I See is an opportunity to reflect on how children learn and how they observe. No registration required, just join us!

International educators use their knowledge and expertise to plan activities
that are thoughtful and deliberate. Thoughtful and deliberate planning
galoows the intentional educator to show the learning to parents in
meaningful ways. Being an intentional educator is an on-going practice.
Let’s start the process together as we explore strategies and approaches to
teaching with intention!

e-Portfolios as a Tool for Reflection and
Professional Development with Sheryl Third, RECE

participants can have an opportunity to create their own e-portfolio. The
attendees will examine the components of an e-portfolio and the benefits of
critically reflecting on these components in order to build their

Physical Literacy and Physical Activity Developing the Whole Child
(L.E.A.P-Let Everyone Actively Participate) October 19, 2016, 5:30pm-9:00pm
Keynote Speaker (T.B.D.) will address what we can do to improve physical literacy and discuss the importance of outdoor play, nature
