Go Fish – Age 4+ | 2-5 playersThe goal is to earn the most Categories.

1. Each player receives 4-7 cards. The rest are placed face down as the Draw Pile.Look at any opponent and say, for example, “Jack, Do you have Fruit?” In order to ask for cards the player must have at least 1 card of that category.

2. The player who is addressed must hand over all cards requested. If the player hasnone, he/she says, "Go fish!" and the player asking draws a card from the pile. A player who did get one or more cards of the named category, is entitled to ask the same or another player for more cards. A turn continues until you are told: “Go fish!”.

3. If you get all the cards of a category (4-6), you show them all, keep them for pointsand play again. The game ends when all categories have been earned. During the game, if you are left without cards, you may (when it’s your turn to play), draw 1 card from the Pile and then ask for cards of that category.

UNO – Age 5+ | 2-5 playersThe goal is to be the first to get rid of all your cards. 1. Every player starts with 6 or 7 cards. The rest of the cards are placed in the Draw Pile

face down. There is a space next to this pile that is designated for the Discard Pile. The top card should be placed in the Discard Pile (face up), and the game begins!

2. View your cards and try to match the card in the Discard Pile. You can Match by number or by category.

The Express ™ Card comes in 3 colors; each one can be a different Action card. For instance, green is ‘Draw 2’, yellow is ‘Reverse’ and red ‘Skip’.

Express ™ Cards can be the Wild Cards. 3. If you have no matches, or choose not to play any of your cards even though you

have a match, you must draw a card from the draw pile. And then the game moves on to the next person in turn.

Odd Man OutPlace 3 cards of the same category (Chair, Couch, and Table) and 1 that is ofa different category (Pants).Your student should identify the exceptional card and explain the reason.

Popular games with Express Memory - Age 3+ | 2-4 playersThe goal is to earn the most Categories.

1. Place the cards face down in rows. Choose pairs from different categories that you want to teach, adjusted to the

student’s memory level.

2. Pick up 2 cards, name the objects and say if they are of the same category or not.If they are, you get to keep them for points but if they are not, turn them back face down. The turn passes on to the next player.

Express ™ Cards can be paired to other Express ™ cards of thesame category.

War - Age 3+ | 2-4 playersThe goal is to be the first to earn all 52 cards. 1. Divide the deck evenly and place your stack of cards face down, in front of you.2. Both players turn up a single card at the same time. The player with the higher

ranked card takes both cards and puts them, face down, on the bottom ofhis/her stack.

3. If the cards are the same rank, it is War. Each player turns up one card face downand one card face up. The player with the higher cards takes both piles (6 cards). If the turned-up cards are again the same rank, each player places another card face down and turns another card face up. The player with the higher card takes all 10 cards, and so on.

Make up rules with your students. It can also be War If 2 cards are of the same category (Orange & Apple), or If 1 regular card and 1 Express card are of the same category (Bus & Transportation), or If 2 Express cards are of different categories (Musical Instroments & Vegetables).

Suggested ActivitiesThe following are general guidelines of how to use Express ™ for learning categories, they are not meant to be followed step-by-step.The relationships with your students and your understanding of what they need in order to progress are most essential.Express ™ is a TOOLBOX that can help you achieve your own goals with more FUN in the process.

Classic Teaching Methods

Identifying Missing CardsPlace 4 cards in a row face up, name the objects for your students and ask them to remember them. Hide 1 card while the students' eyes are closed and then ask them to identify the missing card.

Sorting into CategoriesChoose 4-5 cards from each category that you want to teach, mix well and place in a pile. Your student will draw cards one at a time and place them in columns according to their category. In order to ease the level of difficulty, you can place 1 Express card of each category face up in advance.

Card DescriptionPlace 10 cards of different categories face up in a row. Each person asks the other for a card based on describing it. For example, “give me a vehicle that has two wheels but no engine” (bicycle).

The Guessing Game Place 12 cards face up in any order. One person chooses a card without saying which. The others ask questions in order to identify the chosen card. For example, “Is your card a vegetable?”. According to the answers, you discard all cards that are not as described, until finding out what the chosen card is. “Is your card a long vegetable, orange with green leaves?”
