The first step for improvement is self- evaluation. We need to be
capable to be objective and critic of one self in order to discover
the things we need and moreover the things we want to change
so we can become better in the field of our profession.
Once we have made this analysis we can elaborate a list of
aspects we need to change in order to take actions on them.
After we have defined the areas we need to change
we need to categorize them in long term goals and
short term goals.
Set your long terms first. Make yourself questions about
the most important aspect of your career, your job.
Are you satisfied with the job you have? Do you really
enjoy it? Would you like to be at somewhere else?
Where would you like to be? Do you enjoy your
everyday activities at work?
All this metacognitive process has an intention and its
about our performance satisfaction level.
Companies these days havespecific policies for positions
and applicants. Within the
growth on companies they
also require a better
preparation from applicants.
This is why it becomes so
important to continue theupgrading your skills and
knowledge
We need to organize the action steps that we must take in order toaccomplish the upgrading skills we need to fulfill companies
requirements. Mostly we need to do it in order to accomplish our
career development goals and as part of the self improvement
process.
DEVELOPING MY ACTION GOALS
SHORT TERM LONG TERM
Take the TOEFL exam. Obtain my Bachelors Degree in English
Language Teaching.
Take my Monograph private test Obtain a Masters Degree in Teaching with
the Use of Technology
Improve my writing skills Work in the field of teacher training
Learn Piano Travel to another country to acquire more
experience and culture-knowledge
Make a record of those moments that really make you feel satisfied
with the labor you do in your career field.
Pinnacle Moments
I feel proud when parents ask me to continue working with their sons.
I feel proud whenever I hear good comments about my performance as
teacher. Specially when It comes from my superiors.
I feel comforted when I realize the responsibility I have with my students.
That pushes me to become a better person in all sense.
I feel satisfied when after being demanding with students they achieve
improvement and moreover when they realize they have what they
need to become better.
Evaluating yourself, evaluate your strengths and also your weakness.
This will help you to be aware on the aspects you need to work on
constantly.

Look around in your organization, look for opportunities and be
prepared for changes. Try to see changes as opportunities to
improve, to become better, to learn and develop areas that maybe
you haven't explored yet and you may have a natural talent for it.
Make a list of skills you have in order to put the into practice. This is
the best way to move step by step toward your goals. Once you are
aware of this try to support projects around you and contribute with
your talent!
