This session will present an engaging and

designed to empower students (including those

with language disabilities) with the tools

necessary to approach and understand

narrative and informational text. It emboldens

students to establish comprehension as a process

of cognition rather than an exercise in answering

questions to be graded. It encourages the

development of metacognition, critical thinking,

listening, and speaking skills within the

classroom. It can be used with any curriculum

and text.

Creating a Digital Culture of Thinking

Creating a “culture of thinking” has been a

major focus in Troy for the past several years.

Understanding the 8 cultural forces helps not

only to master our curricular goals, but also in

developing students who are powerful thinkers

and learners. Combining these essential

practices with the technological tools available

at our fingertips has been a challenge and an

adventure. Find out how we made use of iPads,

SeeSaw, One Note, and other technologies to

empower our students to find their voice and

make their thinking visible.
