Criteria for Principal Applicant

Criteria for Co-Applicant

Ÿ Medium enterprise as per the definition in MSMED Act 2006.

Ÿ Has the applicant used internal or external design expertise before.

Ÿ Has the Applicant been a profitable entity in the last 3 years of its operations.

Ÿ Whether the MSME demonstrates either an export performance or potential to export.

Ÿ Whether the MSME unit/s is/are involved in the similar product manufacturing for which they are seeking the financial and experts' assistance.

Ÿ In case of new range of product, has MSME unit/s provided the valid justification for taking up the project with production, profitability and market share projection.

Ÿ Any other relevant factors (Based on the measurable positive difference that a design intervention will bring to the MSME, either in absolute revenues (indicating higher profits) or in percentage terms)

Ÿ Whether the Designer or the design company or acclaimed institute (co applicant) bodies or companies established are incorporated in India under the Indian laws with ongoing business.

Ÿ Whether the Designer or the design company or acclaimed institute has demonstrated expertise and qualification in the problem area that it seeks to solve for the applicant MSME.

Ÿ Does the Design expert demonstrates the ability to complete the project as proposed with the help of in-house / collaborated agencies.

Ÿ Whether the cost of project proposal justifies the capability, expertise, collaboration and commitment shown in the proposal as per the scope and deliverables in the project.

Ÿ Does the timeline and phase wise breakup of design activity justifies the project feasibility.

ŸWhether the design expert has provided sufficient information, materials, data etc to support the proposal.

Whether beneficiary unit(s) (Applicant) is a Micro, Small or

ŸWhether the MSME Unit/s established are incorporated in India under the Indian laws with ongoing business.

Ÿ Whether the design expert has provided sufficient information, materials, data etc to support the proposal.

ŸWhether it is clear that the design expert has done of work on the proposal before coming to the result of applying at Design Clinic Scheme.

Ÿ Whether Design expertise applying for the project assistance with MSME unit/s has been selected from a pool of qualified designers empaneled for this scheme.

Ÿ Whether the co applicant is an associate or agent or employee of MSME unit/s.

Ÿ Whether the applicant design company/academic institution or the applicant MSME has been funded by the Design Clinic before and the amount of funding already granted for such previous projects.

Ÿ How will the design consultant maintain relationship with MSME after the completion of the project;

Ÿ Any other relevant factors.

Ÿ Whether the design intervention would result in an innovative new product or add incremental value to an existing product.

Ÿ Will the product have improved aesthetics/looks, ergonomy, safety, features, functionality, utility, etc. through the design intervention?

Ÿ Does the project proposes the transformation in product from a wider design perspective addressing factors like users, market, technology, features, ergonomy etc. which will generate value in the form of IPR, which might comprise of patent, copyright, industrial design registration etc.

Ÿ Whether the project introduces innovative functions, low cost technology in product manufacturing process.

Ÿ Whether the proposed intervention brings value addition to the MSME offerings.

Ÿ To what extent the project can help integrating design into business process.

Ÿ To what extent the project can help in commercialization of new products or services and finding pathways to market.

Ÿ Whether it is helping MSME unit/s to become more competitive at the end of the project.

Ÿ To what extent the project can help transform design activity into tradable deliverables, be it product or service, that manifests exploitation and deployment in the form of intellectual property, which may comprise patent, copy right, know-how or Design Registration

Ÿ To what extent the project can add value to the products or services concerned and increase their competitiveness
