INTRODUCTION
Engineering departments face countless challenges as they strive to create breakthrough products. They must manage exacting technical processes, as well as the rapid flow of information across diverse developmental teams. In the past, companies seeking CAD benefits could have opt for tools that focused on ease-of-use, yet lacked depth and process breadth or they could have chose broader solutions that fell short on usability. With Pro/ENGINEER, companies get both a simple and powerful solution, to create great products without compromise.
Pro/ENGINEER is standard in 3D product design, featuring industry-leading productivity tools that promote best

practices in design while ensuring compliance with industry and company standards. Integrated, parametric, 3D CAD/CAM/CAE solutions allow you to design faster than ever, while maximizing innovation and quality, to ultimately create exceptional products. Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire is a comprehensive product development solution for concept and industrial design, detailed design, simulation and analysis, mold/tool/die design and NC tool path creation. The software is developed and supported by the Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC), based in United States.

FEATURES OF PRO/E WILDFIRE
Pro/ENGINEER is a powerful application. It is ideal for capturing the design intent of your models because at its foundation is a practical philosophy. Some of the important features of Pro/ENGINEER are as follows :
SOLID MODELER
7 | P a g e
Solid Modeler
Simple & Powerful Tolls
Feature Based Approach
Parametric Design
Associative
Pro/ENGINEER is a solid modeler. It develops models as solids, allowing us to work in three dimensional environment. In Pro/ENGINEER
The solid models have volumes and surface areas. We can calculate the mass properties directly from the
geometry we create. While we can manipulate a solid model’s display on the
screen, the model itself remains a solid. As a solid modeling tool, Pro/ENGINEER is feature
based, associative and parametric.
SIMPLE AND POWERFUL TOOLS
Pro/ENGINEER tools are user friendly. Although the execution of any operation using the tools is simple, the tools can create a highly complex model.
FEATURE BASED APPROACH
Pro/ENGINEER is feature based. Geometry is composed of a series of easy to understand features. A feature is the smallest building block in a part model. Things to remember :
Pro/ENGINEER allows building a model incrementally, adding individual features one at a time.
8 | P a g e
This means as we construct our model feature by feature, we choose our building blocks as well as the order we create them in, thus capturing our design intent.
Design intent is the motive, the all driving force behind every feature creation.
Simple features make our individual parts as well as the overall model flexible and reliable.
PARAMETRIC DESIGN
Pro/ENGINEER is parametric i.e. it is driven by parameters or variable dimensions. This means :
Geometry can be easily changed by modifying the dimensions.
Features are interrelated. Modifications of a single feature propagate changes in
other features as well, thus preserving design intent. A relationship known as parent/child relationship is
developed between features when one feature references other.
ASSOCIATIVE
9 | P a g e
Pro/ENGINEER models are often combinations of various parts, assemblies, drawings and other objects. Pro/ENGINEER makes all these entities fully associative. This means that if we make changes at a certain level, those changes propagate to all levels. For example if we change dimensions of a drawing, the change will be reflected in the associated part.

CONCLUSION
It was a great experience and a joyful ride undergoing vocational training on PRO/Engineer Wildfire 5 at CADD Centre during my summer break after the end of my 4th
semester at Haldia Institute Of Technology, Haldia.
Today PRO/Engineer is very popular in the field of engineering solutions and widely used all over the globe ahead of other 3-D modeling parametric softwares.
At CADD centre I was provided a wonderful environment for learning PRO/Engineer, knowledge of which would definitely help me to build a career ahead.
