The OG (Oxygen converter Gas recovery) system recovers waste CO gas generated during the BOF blowing process. It is possible to reuse approximately 80% of waste gas energy. Since the start of development in 1962, more than 180 units have been built around the world. Innovation for saving energy and maintenance as well as system downsizing has continued since then.

Cost reduction is an ongoing theme for all mills, while environmental issues are becoming more important. To address these two conflicting issues at the same time, Steel Plantech developed the ECOARCTM, an innovative, new-generation ecological and economical arc furnace.
A conventional ladle furnace (LF) has three individual masts with electrode arms for constant impedance control. However, ladle furnace operations involving the flat bath and submerged arc do not require individual electrode regulators. Based on this idea, Steel Plantech developed the Single-Mast Furnace (SMF), a three-electrode simultaneous-control ladle furnace.
Steel Plantech’s totally balanced design, improved water-cooled panels and slag foaming technology have brought the high-power, high-impedance long-arc AC-EAF to fruition. One of our newest results: design parameters optimized to handle the power consumption of high-ratio DRI melting and to minimize power consumption. Satisfactory operating results, through a long arc for flat bath operation, attest to the Steel Plantech EAF technology.
Steel Plantech developed AUTO-ARC for arc furnaces and AUTO-LF for ladle furnaces. These are computer systems with versatile functions that enable both high reliability and low cost and thus contribute to stable operation at steel mills.
In one of Steel Plantech’s main business fields, based on our complete melt-shop design experience, and backed by long years of production experience as a steelmaker, we provide not only EAF equipment and all auxiliaries, but also comprehensive metallurgical and operation technologies.

Steel Plantech’s fully automated scrap charging facilities achieve high productivity and save labor.
Steel Plantech has rich experience in supplying conventional ladle furnaces (LFs). We also developed a three-electrode simultaneous-control ladle furnace and named it the Single-Mast Furnace (SMF). With a simple mechanical configuration, the SMF enables short arc operation with a high power factor.
EBROSTM is a billet welding system with deburring machine to improve productivity by minimizing mis-rolling with less top biting and by reducing crop disposal, while rolling without billet gaps.
Ladle Furnaces (LFs)
Through the optimization of continuous casting and rolling processes, HDR and HDC processes are also streamlined significantly and even higher energy savings are achieved. A compact mill enables the smallest possible distance between stands to contribute to higher power savings, too. With the use of a high-speed block mill and controlled rolling process, high-quality products can be materialized.
Continuous caster can produce high-temperature and high-quality products which are fed directly to the rolling mill. This leads to more energy saving.

CGLs supplied by Steel Plantech feature sophisticated technologies for the production of galvanized steel for diverse industries. The steel products processed using our CGLs are highly evaluated by customers around the world.
The ACL incorporates a horizontal pass system for the high-temperature annealing of thin sheet under low strip tension with an advanced line control system. Steel Plantech’s ACL is equipped with an in-line coater, continuous core loss meter and coating thickness gauge.
Tin plate produced by the electrolytic tinning line is widely used in various applications such as sanitary containers, beverage cans, oil cans, general-use cans, dry battery shells, pails and toys. Steel Plantech can supply ETLs based on either the Ferrostan (PSA) process or the Halogen process. We are also the leading supplier of high-speed HCD-ECL in-line units and independent lines. Recently, the demand for tin-free steel lines has increased. Tin-free steel produced by the electrolytic chromium plating process has been taking the place of tin plate in a number of fields.
The EGL process has excellent features and advantages in commercial production of corrosion-resistant zinc-coated steel sheet for use in automotive parts, electrical appliances, prefabricated building components and other items, for improved durability of final products.
