• The BlackBerry Messenger uses unique 8 alpha –numeric Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) foreach individual BlackBerry device, to communicatebetween devices.• It is a secure (you have to be accepted by the otherBlackBerry user first, before being able to PIN / BBM)form of text messaging.• It is the cheapest form of text messaging, as theBBM service is built into the monthly BlackBerry BIS /BES plan, and does not use data allowances.

Keyboard Shortcuts

The BlackBerry has a number of built in keyboard shortcuts,allowing you to quickly commence an action, without havingto use the menu function.

Note: to use the keyboard shortcuts on your BlackBerrydevice’s home screen, you need to have “Dial From HomeScreen” set to No (in the Phone Application, go Options >General Options).

In this setting configuaration, if you want to dial a number,press the “Send” key first, and then dial your number.
