The editors note makes the magazine seem more personal and in touch with their target audience, it gives a real insight into the contents of the magazine.

The image of the contents page makes the reader feel as though they are having a sneak peek into the life of bring me the horizon, as in the image the lead singer of the band is unaware of the camera, so its as though the reader is there at that moment without being noticed.

By saying “this week” it reinforces that all the contents in this issue is brand new and different to what was published in the previous issue.

Sneak previews of what's inside the magazine to entice the reader

Using a recognisable band logo can capture the readers attention as it stand out from the rest of the simple black text.

Q’s colour scheme of red, white and black is carried through onto the contents page as well as the front cover. These colours are simple but bold, which means the page is striking but not too busy.

The contents page has a very simple layout and a very short list of pages, this works well will the simplistic colour scheme as it creates a minimalistic vibe.

The strange and questionable quote at the bottom of the page has been carefully chosen to intruge and shock the reader, as it doesn’t make much sense and it provokes an explanation, which encourages the reader to flick through the magazine.

The main image isn't distracted by any smaller snapshots of what's inside the magazine like the common contents layout. It doesn’t reveal any of the features that will be inside the magazine.

The issue date is very large and obvious so the reader will know when this magazine in particular was released.

Listing all of the bands that feature in the magazine means that readers can find the specific band they want to read about and the relevant page number and therefore skip past things they don’t want to read about.

Similarly to the contents of Q magazine, NME makes it clear that all contents in this weeks magazine is fresh and exciting.

The arrow pointing right is suggesting that the reader should turn the page, and the writing on the arrow gives the page number needed to find the page with the “Uks number 1 gig guide”

Encouraging readers to subscribe to the magazine for a reasonable price means that they will be repetitive customers.

The warm reds of the picture matches the red colour scheme of the NME logo.
