A Dry, Plug-in Connector System for Medium and High-Voltage Networks.CONNEX meets all your requirements of a universal connector system: full insulation, metal housings and pro-tectionagainstelectric shocks. It ismaintenance-free, suitable foroutdooruseanddeckwater-proof.ThismeansCONNEXcanbeusedeveninthemostextremeconditions.

Silicone – a Key Material in High-Voltage Engineering.Water, dirt, grease and oil-resistant, completely maintenance-free, shock-resistant and unbreakable: silicone istheperfectmaterialforcableterminationsandfarsuperiortotraditionalmaterialssuchasporcelain.Whenused as a stress-relief device in sealed applications, silicone evens out temperature variations and unevenness inthecablesurfacemuchbetterthandohardermaterialssuchasEPDM.Dangerouspartialdischargescausedbyairgapsaresafelyavoided.PFISTERERmakessiliconeproductsprimarilyusingadvancedLSR(LiquidSiliconeRubber)designs;specialvariationsaredesignedusingRTV(room-temperaturevulcanisingsilicone).

TheMV-CONNEXrangeisidealforuseinringmainunits,circuit-breakerswitch-gear,high-voltagemotors,transformers,capacitors,transducersandsealingboxes.The connectors on the equipment-side are designed to meet EN 50180, 50181, and DIN47637.Theplugissuitableforallkindsofinsulatedplasticcables.Aswellasa wide range of standard types there are also customer-specific versions for every cabletype.TheMV-CONNEXsystemfeaturesnumerousvariations:inadditionto the standard plug and socket combination, there are many other versions for testingpurposesandspecialapplications.

Multi-contact elbow bushings are used instead of DIN-standard porcelain versions on the medium-voltage side of power trans-formers.Theydistributethecurrentovertwoorfourcables,thus accommodating higher power loads using more manage-ablecablecrosssections.

CONNEX surge arresters are used to protect metal-enclosed switchgear fitted with cable terminations in accordance with EN50180/EN50181.Thesurgearrestersareconnectedtotheswitchgear transformer and prevent the entry of excessively highsurges.Thesurgearrestersareparticularlyeffectiveinlimiting surges caused by reflected travelling waves and switchingovervoltages.

Busbar connectors facilitate the modular construction and on-siteexpansionofSF6 insulated switchgear, because the gas compartmentdoesnothavetobeopenedduringinstallation.Therangeincludes24kVto42kVversions.

The integrated capacitive potential point makes it easy to check theconnectionfortheabsenceofvoltage.ThePFISTERERrangeincludes mobile and stationary continuous voltage indicators, as wellasphasecomparatorsandperformancetestingequipment.

HV-CONNEXbushingsrequirelessspacethanIECconnectors.All well-known manufacturers have since begun to offer equip-mentwhichexploitsthisadvantage.AnextensionadapterforconventionalcableconnectormodulesisrequiredwhenHV-CONNEXisusedwithtraditionalGISequipment.

The installation of two connectors on the equipment makes it possibletohaveonecableconnectorontheside,facingdown.If it is necessary to connect this kind of transformer using an overheadline,anHV-CONNEXplug-ininsulatorforoverheadlines can be installed and the downward facing cable connector thenterminatedwithadummyconnector.Thisplug-ininsulatoralso makes it very easy to carry out simple voltage tests on trans- formersfittedwithHV-CONNEXequipmentconnectors,eitherinthefactoryoronsite.

TheHV-CONNEXcableconnectionsystemmeansplug-injointbo-xes for various geometric configurations can be assembled using fewercomponents.Theadvantageofthesejointboxesisthatthejoint body is a single unit which is completely manufactured and testedatthefactory.Solutionsofthiskindbringenormousbe-nefits if, for example, cables need to be bent back multiple times duringtheinstallationandconversionphase.

TheHVplug-inbushingcanbeusedwhereverhigh-voltageequipmentneedstobeconnectedtooverheadlines.ACONNEXplug-inbushingprovidestheconnectiontotheequipment.Ifthe plug-in bushing is used, the high-voltage equipment can be operated immediately without having to open and test it again attheinstallationsite.Inaddition,plug-inHVversionscanbein-stalledatanyangle.Andthebushingcan,ofcourse,beswappedforacableconnectoratanytime.

IXOSILjointsessentiallyconsistofpremouldedslip-onsiliconeparts.Thisenablesthe secureandefficientconnectionoftwopolymeric-insulatedcables(XLPE,EPR).Theprovenslip-ontechniqueensuresminimuminstallationtimeandamaximumoperationreliability.The tested and applied material complies with all electrical, mechanical and thermal requirementsofthecable.Theone-pieceMSAslip-onjointisavailableintwodifferenttypes.OntheonehandwithasolidPEhousing,ontheotherhandwithashrinksleeveconstruction.

Bothtypesofjointsareavailablewithintegratedscreeninsulation.Thereforetheycanbeusedforanykindofscreentreatment,forexamplecrossbonding.

Theone-pieceMSAslip-onjointisavailableforvoltagesfrom60kVto300kV.Duetotheone-piececonstructionofthisjointitisextremelycompactinsize.Therequiredspaceinajointpitthereforeisreducedtoaminimum.Everysizeofthesiliconebodycoversarangeofdifferentinsulationdiameters.Thisenablestheconnectionofacopperandanaluminiumconductorcable.

Thethree-pieceMSAslip-onjointisavailableforvoltagesfrom60kVto170kV.Thewellapproved three-piece construction of this joint allows the connection of cables with differ-entdesignsanddimensions.Thisenablestheconnectionofacopperandanaluminiumconductorcable.Forexamplea630mm2 EPR cable can be connected to a 500 mm2 XLPEcable.
