Hasselblads True Focus eature helps solve one o the mostlingering challenges acing serious photographers today:true, accurate ocusing throughout the image ield.

A typical auto-ocus camera can only correctly measure ocuson subjects that are in the image center. To ocus on a subject

outside the center area, you must irst lock ocus on thesubject and then re-compose the image. At close ocusingdistances particularly, this re-composing causes ocus error,as the plane o sharpness ollows the movement o thecamera, perpendicular to the axis o the lens.

The traditional solution or most DSLRcameras has been to equip the camerawith a multi-point AF sensor. Such multi-point AF solutions, however, are otentedious and inexible to work with andin addition, due to the physics o anSLR-camera, the o-center ocus pointsoered are clustered relatively close tothe center o the image. The photo-grapher is still orced to ocus frst and

then shit the camera to rerame, withthe resulting loss o ocus as a result.

To overcome this problem, Hasselbladhas used modern yaw rate sensortechnology to measure camera move-ment in an innovative way. The result isthe new Absolute Position Lock (APL)processor, which orms the oundationo Hasselblads True Focus eature. TheAPL processor accurately logs cameramovement during any re-composing,uses these exact measurements to

calculate the necessary ocus adjust-ment, and then issues the propercommands to the lenss ocus motor soit can compensate.
