02.SIBCA - FIRE PUMPS

The Perna!! 227® Low Pressure (LP) Series cons ists of a clean agent fire extingu ishing system that uti lizes UL listed and FM approved HFC227-ea fi re protection fluid wh ich known commercially as Pemall HFC227-ea. The LP Series permits higher discharge rates and is particu larly adaptable to areas requiring larger quantities of agent or where discharge duration is challenge. The Pemall 227® LP Series Clean Agent Fire Suppress ion System is the right choice when storage space for a fire suppression agent is restr icted, or when an electrically non-conductive agent is required. It is well des igned to extinguish fires invo lving flammab le liqu ids, gases and elec t rical equipment .

Pemall HFC227-ea is supplied in robust stainless-steel cylinders of wide filling ranges that offers sma ll footprint and requires a minima l storage space. It has a boiling point of - °16.4C or °2.48F and therefore exists as a liquid at room temperature. It is super pressurized with nitrogen to 500 psi and rapidly extinguishes fire through a combination of heat absorption and some chemical interference with the flame.

The Pemall 227® LP Series for 360 psi System w ith the Pemall HFC - 227ea Agent is a highly effective fire suppressant that has low toxicity, atmospheric lifetime and zero ozone deplet ion potential.

The EPA Sign ificant New Alternative Prog ram (SNAP) lists HFC- 227ea acceptable for occupie d spaces . The

NFPA Standa rd 2001 and SNAP has listed ce rta in guidelines and limitat ions about the discharge of HFC- 227ea

into a hazard zone for human exposure since it can reduce v isib ility for a b rief period tha t may cause frostbite if

liqu id discharge or escaping vapor contacts the skin.

When HFC- 227ea is exposed to tempe ratures greater t han °1300F (°700C), the by - product Hydrogen Fluoride

(HF) will be fo rmed. FM00 2- (!; Systems a re designed to discharge in 10 seconds or less in orde r to minimize the

amoun t of HF fo rmed. The Perne ll HFC- 227ea (CF3CHFCF3 - Heptafluo ropropane) is a co mpound that consists

of carbon, fluorine and hydrogen . It is co lorless, odorless and elect rically non-conductive. The Pemal l

HFC227-ea is stored as a liquid in stainless steel conta iners and pressurized with nitrogen to 500 ps i to increas e

its discharge flow characterist ics . When d ischarged, Perna II HFC- 227ea will suppress fire via discharge nozzles

and effec t ive ly mix with the air t hroughou t the protec ted area . It is perfectly suited to pro tec t high value assets

in are as t hat may be normally occup ied, in loca t ions whe re clean - up of othe r agen ts is difficu lt. Its ASHRAE

nomenclature is designated in the NFPA 2001 clean agent.

The HFC227-ea has a gas pressure of 3.91 bar at 20 °C, that effect ively assists fast evapo rat ion at the nozzle and

fast d ist ribution in the room . Pernell HFC- 227ea is neither cor rosive nor electr ically conductive and causes no

damage or residues at sensitive electron ic components . It is co lor less and a lmost odorless and forms as a gas

at ambien t tempera t ure. The HFC- 227ea absorbs the heat of the flame and therefore interru pt s the combus t

ion reaction. So, the maximum achieva ble ext ingu ishing effec tiveness rate is %100.

CYLINDER BRACKETSecurely mounts the cy linder to support its load. The cy linde r bracket should be mounted on a solid load bearing concrete wal l. The cylinder bracket are chosen as primary means of support, as they enable the gas cylinders to be held tight ly and securely during an event of HFC227-ea discharge . It is also installed to protect the cylinder from any obstructive pos itioning.

Note: One cylinder bracket is required for each of the cylinder sizes mentioned in the table.

PILOT ACTUATION PORT

A 1/4 in (8 mm) FNPT connection provides a means of applying octuotion pressure to the slove cylinder(s). alse con be used for connection of the dischage pressure switch in single cylinder arrangements. The port is supplied with a removable plug & pressurized only during the 10

second discharge period.

PRESSURE GAUGE PORT

A female connection serves as the ottcchment point for the pressure gauge. It is fitted with an internal Schroder (check valve) to allow removal of the gouge while the cylinder is pressurized supplied

with protection guard



STAINLE SS STEEL SIPH ON TUBEThe Stainless Steel Siphon Tube runs down the center of the pressurized Stainless Steel Cylinder and draws the liquid up through the valve. It is a threaded, rigid Stain less Steel Tube t hat extends from the cylinder neck down to its bottom.

SAFETY DISC AND SCHRADER VALVEA Safety Disc is located on the cyl inder top body that ope rates as emergency relief device and serves to protect the cylinder against excessive interna l pressu re. The Safety Disc is designed to burst within a range of 58 .6 bar (850 psi) to 68 .9 bar (1000 ps i).

The body is equipped with Schrader Valve with male threaded port to accept a cap or pump head. The pin in the center is a spr ing- loaded check valve that controls the flow of the gas in and out of the stain less steel cylinder.

LIQUID LEVEL INDICATORThe cy linder is prov ided with a knock-out (boss) to accommodate an optiona l liqu id level ind icator tha t determines the amount of liquid leve l the cy linder . A liquid level indicator located on the cy linder body is a non - magnetic tube conta ining a measu rement tape attached to a magnet. As the tape is removed, the magnet will engage at the liquid surface. This meas urement is compared with a chart in the design manual to determine the current fill weight of the cylinder. The indicator must be installed pr ior to assemb ly of the cy linder components and clean agent filling.

Accu rate readings con be obtained over a 40° F (4 .44°C) to 90° F (32.22°C) temperature range. Tolerance is ±2% of cylinder fil l weight.

Note : Cy linders with capacities of 2SLB, 40LB, 7SLB and l0SLB hos to be weighed since these cy linders ore not supported with Liquid Level Indicator provision.

ELECTRICAL ACTUATION UNIT - LATCHING SOLENOIDMODEL NUMBER: LS-01The latching solenoid is designed with additional emergency release local manual contro l to manual ly fo rce the pin to depress the cylinder va lve in order to release the ext ingu ishing medium when requ ired. It features a local lever driven push rod that depresses a Schrader valve th rough the latching solenoid which is fitted onto the top of the solenoid, thereby vent ing the pressure from the top of the piston in the cylinder valve, allowing the piston to slide upward and commence the clean agent d ischarge.

Note: The Electrica l Solenoid con be removed for servicing or testing without loss of agent since the Schrader (Check Valve) will close as the Electrical Soleno id is removed.

MANUAL ACTUATORLOCAL MANUAL CONTROLSMO DEL NUMBE R: LMCLA- 01A manual lever and cam arrangement on the actuator permits actuation of the device on a manual basis, thereby ove rriding and independent of electric power or pneumatic pressure. A pull pin and seal prevent accidental operation of the manual lever. A swivel nut and O-ring seal on the device provides for attachment and seal at the connection point unde r port number LMCLA-0 1.

The Part Number LMCLA-01 is used with slave cylinders or in case Electrical Actuat ion Unit are not prov ided. Otherwise, the local manua l contro l nub will be used with the Electrical Actuat ion Unit arrangement as o standard.

PNEUMATIC ACTUATORPISTON ACTUATOR CONTROL HEAD-SLAVEMODEL NUMBE R: PAA-01The Piston Actuator mounts direct ly to o Top Plug Adapter of the cylinder valve. It features a pneumatically driven piston that depresses a Schrader Valve, the reby vent ing the pressure from the top of the piston in the cylinder valve, al lowing the piston to open and commence cylinder discharge.

Actuat ion of the master or prior slave cylinder valve assemb ly permits pressure to be applied through a flexible connector set connec ted to the pneumatic actuator, which in turn applies pressure to its ope rating piston.

Note: Flexible connectors are used to interconnect the cyl inder valve devices. These hoses have a stainless-steel wire braid cover and a Teflon liner, and orefitted at eac h end with a 1/ 4 in. swivel flare nut.

The Electrical Actuation Unit, Latching Solenoid has passed the UL's extensive safety research and scienti fic tests. The Latching Soleno id carr ies the recognized component mark ( )which means it has successfully met strict requirements .

LOW PRESSURE SUPERVISORY SWITCHThe low pressure supervisory switch can detect a drop in pressure. One version of the switch is normal ly closed (N.C.) and the second version is normal ly open (N.O.). The switch is referenced in the no pressure condition. When the cylinder is pressurized until the actuat ion pressure is reac hed, the contact for the normally closed (N.C.) switch will shift from normally closed to norma lly open status and vice versa for the normally open (N.O.) switch.

Note: Supervisory Pressure Switch is required when cylinders are locate d in areas not readily accessible for pressure gauge observation, or when supervision is needed to continuously monitor the cylinder pressure and to transmit an alarm signal in the event the pressure falls below an acceptable level.

PRESSURE OPERATED SWITCH (N.C. / N.O.)SPDT (MANUAL RESET)MODEL NUMBER: POS-ARThis switch is used for sending a signal to the control panel when the clean agent is released to implement the shutdown of power and various items of equipment, such as fans and for annunciation and alarm purposes. DISTRIBUTION NOZZLESThe 180° sidewall nozzle sha ll be adjacent to a wa ll. The area coverage cannot be exceeded. Two 180° sidewall nozz les may be used at the center of the hazard. They may be app lied back to back, p rovidi ng area coverage of 3200 ft 2 (40 ft x 80 ft).

The 180° sidewa ll nozzle may be installed from 2" to 12" down when referenced from the ceil ing. When refere ncing the wall to t he nozz le, the range of installation is from 0" to 12" off t he wall. For the 180° sidewal l nozzle reference, the cente rline is between the top orifice and the bottom orifice.

FLASHING LIGHT SIGNMODEL NUMBER: LBL- H- 06The sign has a dimesion of 7" x 4 ¼" x 1/16" (178 x 108 x 1.5 mm) and is made of plastic with white lettering on a red background.

The purpose of the Flashing Light Sign is to to attract public notice/attention in the event of a HFC-227ea discharge. This wil l alert personnel when HFC-227ea has been discharged and allow them to take appropriate act ions.

MANUAL DISCHARGE STATION SIGNMODEL NUMBER: LBL-H-05The sign has a dimension of 4" x 4" x 1/ 16" (100 x 700 x 7.5 mm) and is made of plastic with white lettering on a red background.

The purpose of the Manual Discharge Station Sign is to identify the manual pull station as the place where the HFC- 227ea can be manual ly discha rged. It also minimizes the possibility of the manual pull station being mistake n for a fire alarm device. The Manual Discharge Station Sign should be located in the proximity of the manua l pul l station for quick positive identification.

LOW PRESSURE SUPERVISO RY SW ITCHThe low pressure superv isory switch can detect a drop in pressure. One version of the switch is normally closed (N.C.) and the second version is normally open (N.O.). The switch is referenced in the no pressure condition. When the cylinder is pressurized until the actuation pressure is reached, the contact for the normally closed (N.C.) switch will shift from normally closed to normally open status and vice versa for the normally open (N.O.) switch.
