Wash your hands with soap and warm

water and dry them thoroughly.

Remove the lancing device cap.

Place a new lancet firmly into the

lancet holder.

Remove the protective cover from the

lancet. Do not discard this cap.

Attach the cap back onto the lancing

device, and adjust the puncture depth

as required by rotating the tip of the

depth adjustment cap. The depth

setting is visible through the depth

indicator window.

Hold the lancing device in one hand

and pull the priming barrel outwards

until an audible click is heard. The

priming barrel will spring back into

place. The lancing device is now

loaded and ready to use.

Hold the lancing device firmly against

the sample site. Press the release

button to puncture the skin.

When using AST cap or Adjustable AST

cap, press and hold the lancing device

firmly against the fleshy area on the

chosen AST site. Apply steady pressure

and the skin inside the target area will rise

slightly. Push the trigger button to

puncture the skin.

Place the lancet protective cover on a

hard surface, then push the used

lancet tip into the lancet protective

cover which was removed earlier.

Slide the ejector forwards until the

lancet is pushed out of the device,

dispose of the used lancet into an

approved sharps container. Return the

ejector back to its original position and

then depress the trigger button. Place

the cap back onto the device and the

lancing device is ready to use again.

Suitable for use with the SteriLance™ Soft twist lancets and other popular lancet

brands.

Adjustable: different penetration depths, users can set the penetration depth at a

desired level

Simple: quick activation and reactivation with non-touch lancet removal

Flexible: clear caps designed for Alternate Site Testing (AST)

SteriLance™ provides a standard adjustable end cap for conventional

capillary blood sampling lancets. An optional cap for Alternate Site Testing (AST) is also

available. Instructions for AST are provided with the device.

Capillary blood for gluco testing can be obtained not only from the fingertips but also from

other sites, such as palm, the forearm, the upper arm, the calf or the thigh.

This can be beneficial because alternate sites have fewer nerve endings than fingertips,

thereby alternate site testing is less painful.

Alternate Site Testing generally produces less blood than the normal fingertip procedure.

It is intended for producing samples for use with certain blood glucose monitoring

systems.

Before attempting Alternate Site Testing, users are advised to consult the instructions

supplied with their blood glucose monitoring system, and their professional medical

advisor.

Clean the incision site with alcohol

preparation pads (70% isopropanol) and

allow the skin to air dry.

Remove the safety trigger lock from the

device.

Raise the baby's foot to a suitable level

and place the blade slot flush against the

infant's heel site.

When both ends of the device’s flat face

have made light contact with the skin,

press the trigger and immediately move

the device away from the heel.

The first drop of blood should be wiped

away gently with a dry sterile gauze pad.

Collect the blood sample with a capillary

tube (or similar device) and fill the blood

collection container until the required

volume is obtained. Gently press a dry

sterile gauze pad on the incision site until

the bleeding stops.

How to Use

OPEN: press button and do not push forward

TO USE: pull guard back to expose blade. Listen for click when fully open and ready for

use.

CLOSE: push guard forward to cover blade. Listen for click when fully closed.

SAFETY LOCK: hold one or both sides of guard.

Push forward until hear an audible click when locked. DISPOSE: dispose of used scalpel

in a suitable container.

All Index™ safety scalpels are fitted with stainless steel blades. Blade shapes 9 to 36, 60

and 70 are available.

The Index™ safety scalpel supports and enhances the safe passing procedures and

protocols already practised in Operating Rooms and Theatres.

Color coded for ease of blade recognition. The scalpel features a strong temporary

forward lock position to prevent uncontrolled retraction when contacting with bone during

use, an additional notch to hold the blade more securely in the passing position and a

permanent rear lock to be engaged prior to final disposal in a sharps container.

Index™ Stitch Cutter Blade

Designed with a rounded bull nose tip, the Index™ Stitch Cutter Blades are ideal for cutting

the wide range of modern sutures available today whilst minimizing patient discomfort.

The range consists of a short standard stitch cutter with a larger grip. The Long handle

enables a more aseptic technique allowing good visibility whilst working further from the

wound site.

The Skin Graft blade is used for the surgical removal of a patch of healthy skin from one

area of the patients body which is then transplanted to another area where there has been

extensive tissue loss. Skin grafts may be recommended for burns, to promote healing after

surgery, for areas of prior infection with extensive skin loss or during cosmetic and

reconstructive surgery.

The range includes a Carbon steel or Stainless Steel sterile 158 mm Skin Graft Blade

Index™ Disposable Scalpel

Disposable sheath guarded and blade protected scalpels offer convenience in a number of

user environments be it on the ward, in emergency or trauma units or even out in the field

with paramedics.

Guarded Scalpels, along with the minor "thumb" scalpels are also available in none sterile

bulk form for use in customized procedure trays, packs and kits.

Sterile disposable scalpels are individually packed in standard aluminium foil wraps or in a

transparent film wrap providing improved product visibility and developed to assist in safe

passing techniques.

Index™ sterile disposable scalpels, packed in box of 10pcs, are fitted with the following
