Botanicals for Cosmetic Applications

Plant-derived extracts from herbs, roots, flowers, fruits, leaves or seeds have a long tradition as cosmetic in-gredients and were among the very first cosmetics. Lipoid Kosmetik has pioneered this field of natural cosmetic raw materials since 1972 and is today one of the leading suppliers of botanical actives, botanical extracts and cosmetic functional ingredients.

Botanical Actives Botanical actives are cosmetic formulations with defined plant-derived active ingredients. The cosmetic efficacy of our actives has carefully been proven and documented by clinical in vitro and/ or in vivo studies.

Botanical Extracts Lipoid Kosmetik offers a wide range of botanical extracts from 350 plants in different solvent- and preservation systems (see next page). In addition to standardized, organic and fair-trade qualities we develop also tailor-made systems upon request. Many of our products can be used in COSMOS-certified formulations.

Cosmetic Functionals Our portfolio of cosmetic functionals comprises a wide range of natu-ral additives, e.g. vitamins, proteins, oils, abrasives and unique products from Swiss milk and honey.

Our Technology

Focusing on the active molecule of the plants, our extraction process is designed to maintain the phytochemical composition of the plants and to guarantee high quality and consistency. This is achieved with our proprietary extraction technology:

• Cold extraction with a unique combination of extremely mild maceration and percolation techniques. Active molecules such as flavonoids and terpenes can be extracted without thermal degradation

• A very high Drug-Solvent-Ratio (DSR). In most products, 1 kg extract is equal to 0.5-1 kg fresh plant
