Product Description MILGEL ® NT is a premium grade Wyoming bentonite meeting American Petroleum Institute (API) specifications for untreated bentonite. Features and Benefits MILGEL ® NT is a high swelling bentonite clay used as a primary viscosifier and fluid loss control additive for water-based drilling fluids. The viscosity of MILGEL NT can be extended further with water soluble polymers. MILGEL NT aids in filtration control by reducing the permeability of the filter cake. The improved texture and quality of the wall cake provides better borehole stability. Other benefits include: High yield Easy to mix Non-toxic Non-fermenting Fluid loss pill Lost circulation treatment Application & Recommended Treatment MILGEL NT additions of 36 to 60 lb/100 gal (42.75 to 71.25 kg/m 3 ) in fresh water is typical for most drilling applications. MILGEL NT should be added through the mud hopper with good agitation to maximize the yield rate and final viscosity. MILGEL NT can be used in a variety of waters; however, optimum viscosity and filtration control values are obtained in freshwater that is low in hardness. MILGEL NT will provide superior hole cleaning as well as control lost circulation, control unconsolidated formations, and provide filter cake formation for fluid loss control. Typical Physical Properties Appearance Tan Powder pH in H2O Neutral Specific Gravity 2.4 to 2.5 Bulk Density 56 lb/ft³ (896 kg/m 3 ) Applications for MILGEL NT include: Horizontal Directional Drilling Mining/Minerals Water Wells Blast Holes Environmental Wells Shaft Drilling Foam Drilling Environmental Information MILGEL NT has been evaluated in Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids' Bioassay Program. The United States Environmental Protection Agency's (US EPA) Drilling Fluids Toxicity Test resulted in little or no toxicity for 20.0 lb/bbl (57 kg/m 3 ) of MILGEL NT in a generic #7 mud system. For more information concerning Environmental regulations applicable to Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids (BHDF) Inudustrial Products contact the Health, Safety, and environmental Department. Shipping Transportation of MILGEL NT is not restricted by either international or USA regulatory agencies. Safe Handling Recommendations Utilize normal precautions for employee protection when handling chemical products. Use of appropriate respirator, gloves, goggles, and apron is recommended for employee comfort and protection. See Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) prior to use. Product Description

MILGEL®NT is a premium grade Wyoming bentonite meeting

American Petroleum Institute (API) specifications for untreated bentonite.

Features and Benefits

MILGEL® NT is a high swelling bentonite clay used as a

primary viscosifier and fluid loss control additive for water-based

drilling fluids. The viscosity of MILGEL NT can be extended further with water soluble polymers.

MILGEL NT aids in filtration control by reducing the permeability of the filter cake. The improved texture and quality of the wall cake provides better borehole stability. Other benefits include:

High yield Easy to mix Non-toxic Non-fermenting Fluid loss pill Lost circulation treatment

Application & Recommended Treatment

MILGEL NT additions of 36 to 60 lb/100 gal (42.75 to 71.25 kg/m3) in fresh water is typical for most drilling applications. MILGEL NT should be added through the mud hopper with good

agitation to maximize the yield rate and final viscosity. MILGELNT can be used in a variety of waters; however, optimum viscosity and filtration control values are obtained in freshwater

that is low in hardness. MILGEL NT will provide superior hole cleaning as well as control lost circulation, control unconsolidated formations, and provide filter cake formation for fluid loss control.

Typical Physical Properties

Appearance Tan Powder

pH in H2O Neutral

Specific Gravity 2.4 to 2.5

Bulk Density 56 lb/ft³ (896 kg/m3)

Applications for MILGEL NT include:

Horizontal Directional Drilling Mining/Minerals Water Wells Blast Holes Environmental Wells Shaft Drilling Foam Drilling

Environmental Information

MILGEL NT has been evaluated in Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids' Bioassay Program. The United States Environmental Protection Agency's (US EPA) Drilling Fluids Toxicity Test resulted in little or no toxicity for 20.0 lb/bbl (57 kg/m3) of

MILGEL NT in a generic #7 mud system. For more information concerning Environmental regulations applicable to Baker Hughes Drilling Fluids (BHDF) Inudustrial Products contact the Health, Safety, and environmental Department.
