The World’sBest Ethernet

Since our founding in 1996, Extreme Networks has delivered advanced industry-leading Ethernet switches to data centers, enterprises and service providers around the world. Over six thousand customers rely on Extreme Networks solutions to improve network performance, speed, and agility. With an extensive record of software and hardware innovation, including over 175 patents and partnerships with a wide range of industry leaders, Extreme Networks products and services provide the foundation for delivering next generation cloud, enterprise and mobile applications with improved efficiency and at lower costs across a wide range of environments and requirements.

ExtremeXOS Network Operating SystemExtremeXOS® is the single robust operating system spanning all Extreme Networks switches and delivering the benefits of consistent feature sets, simplified extensibility, and streamlined automation and management across networks ranging from large cloud and data centers to the enterprise edge. A modular architecture, integrated identity-aware security, integration with VoIP systems, and enhanced control for highly virtualized data centers are among the distinguishing features of ExtremeXOS. Additional key advantages include:

• Highly Resilient – Sustains network operations via advanced design, memory protection, self-healing performance, and resilient protocols (EAPS, MLAG, DCB)

• Virtualized – XNV™ VM lifecycle management at the network level provides identity aware VDI provisioning

• Automated – Fully scriptable with flexible APIs

• Proven – Leveraged globally in mission critical environments including advanced research, high performance computing, and government applications

• Secure – Common Criteria EAL3+ Certified

SDNAll ExtremeXOS-based switches are Software Defined Networking (SDN) ready, offering support for industry standard OpenFlow and OpenStack and enabling separation of the network control and data planes with powerful centralized network management. With leading SDN controller partners, Extreme Networks SDN solutions presently run in production networks in a variety of network environments. ExtremeXOS-based switches also allow for integration with the OpenStack open source cloud computing platform for public and private clouds through its Extreme Quantum plugin.

Data CenterQuickly expanding requirements for performance, value, and flexibility are driving data center architects to increasingly leverage virtualization, the cloud, and Software Defined Networks (SDN) to solve their critical business issues.

With 10G, 40G, and 100G Ethernet solutions and ExtremeXOS running from core to edge, Extreme Networks improves data center performance, agility, and scale. Our partnerships with leading SDN controller vendors ensure application interoperability and enable services provisioning of upper layer business applications.

Extreme Networks Open Fabric is our standards-based approach to addressing data center requirements. Based on high speed, low latency connections, Open Fabric enables organizations to leverage non-blocking network infrastructures characterized by multipath resiliency, mesh connectivity and simplified management, configuration and provisioning.

Among the unique capabilities delivered by Extreme Networks solutions are XNV, which enables Virtual Machine (VM) mobility from one physical host to another; Data Center Bridging, which permits convergence of data and storage over a single Ethernet infrastructure; Multi-Switch Link Aggregation (MLAG), which enables deployment of an optimized active-active topology in which no network links are idle; and Identity Management (IDM), which enables policy based management for users and devices, even across VM environments.

Extreme SolutionsEnterprise and CampusExtreme Networks Open Fabric Edge leverages capabilities traditionally residing in the network core - such as high speed performance, low latency, loss-less connectivity, multi-path resiliency, low power use, automation, and, most importantly, open standards - and extends them throughout the enterprise.

By expanding cloud attributes to the campus, Extreme Networks Open Fabric Edge enables organizations to reduce CAPEX, simplify development and deployment of new services, and ensure interoperability with leading solution partners.

Enterprise applications benefiting from the Open Fabric Edge include Unified Communications (UC) and solutions such as Microsoft Lync and Mitel Unified Communications and Collaboration, where ensured QoS and low jitter and latency drive superior performance and optimized user experiences.

Extreme Networks AVB-enabled Ethernet switches extend the benefits of the Open Fabric Edge to professional audio/video applications, where data, audio, and video co-exist on a single standards-based network. IT managers and AV integrators benefit from simplified deployments, guaranteed quality of service and reduced costs from a converged network.

Converged networks are also increasingly powering Physical Security implementations, where Extreme Networks switches provide powerful scripting, identity management and Power Over Ethernet (PoE/PoE+) capabilities. To simplify management of physical security resources over the network, Extreme Networks provides Chalet, a web-based GUI that allows monitoring of camera traffic and power cycling of video cameras and other devices to reduce the need for on-site support calls and labor intensive maintenance.

Mobile BackhaulAs powerful new mobile devices drive demand for rich services and increased bandwidth, mobile operators are seeking new opportunities for revenue and efficiency. With Extreme Networks solutions, mobile operators can lower their capital expenses (CAPEX) and operational expenses (OPEX) by reducing the number of network elements and simplifying operations.

Extreme Network products provide high price-for-performance and investment protection for mobile operators by reducing network energy consumption and simplifying implementation. Our solutions support the stringent demands of service provider networks with resilient synchronous Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) backhaul to support multiple generations of services, and enable mobile operators to create networks designed for new mobile applications with pervasive high quality access, awareness and control from the converged edge to the cloud.

Open Partner EcosystemsExtreme Networks switches are designed for open standard interoperability. Validated solutions and extensive third-party testing enable customers to deploy best-of-breed networks and eliminate single vendor compromise and proprietary lock-in. As an example, Extreme Networks products meet end-to-end performance requirements for Microsoft Lync UC environments to ensure high quality user experiences.

Our open solutions also provide the network infrastructure component for implementations across markets as diverse as data center storage, Physical Security, AVB, and wireless networking, minimizing risk and lowering total cost of ownership through an approach that allows multiple vendors to develop common solutions for customer challenges.

Extreme Networks solutions are used by 19 of the top 20 mobile providers around the world.
