PRODUCED BY THE SHIRE OF KONDININ
YEERAKINE LODGE EXTENSION The Council at its Ordinary Meeting held on the 19th July 2017 awarded the tender to A Corp Construction to undertake the 4 unit extension to Yeerakine Lodge. Under the direction of Works Manager, Mark Burgess the site works to prepare the pad has commenced which is scheduled for completion shortly, following which work on construction will commence. The extension comprises enlarging the shared living area and the addition of four new rooms to match the existing. It is envisaged that there will be minimal disruption to the current resi-dents who will be able to remain in their rooms. There will however be a period when the liv-ing area will be closed off to residents and visitors. Expected completion date is May 2018. This project has been made possible through a grant of $600,000 through the Federal Gov-ernment’s National Stronger Region Fund together with contribution from the Shire and from the Kondinin Kulin Aged Care Committee. Deputy CEO, Alan George has been appointed Project Manager of the extension, so if you have any queries in relation to the development please contact Alan at the Shire Office on 9889 1006 or [email protected]

FLOOD DAMAGE TO KONDININ ROAD NETWORK
As a result of a large portion of Western Australia receiving flood damage to road networks in early February, 2017, the State Government declared the event a natural disaster under the Western Australia Natural Disaster Relief & Recovery Arrange-ments, (WANDRRA AGRN 743). The Shire of Kondinin’s road network was affected and approval has been received from the State Government for the Shire of Kondinin to repair the flood damage following an independent damage assessment being carried out. Reinstatement work is now well underway utilising the Shire’s own workforce and will carry over into the 2017/18 financial year. John Read Chief Executive Officer
COMMUNITY GARDEN UPDATE
We had a productive busy bee last Saturday with some nice carpentry
work by Alan George on the timber slats attached to the gabion seat-
ing positioned around the fire pits. Thank you also to Janet, Sam,
Rosie, Margi and Toni for filling the last two gabion seats with rocks
and for doing some general weeding and putting in a few new plants.
It is great to see the community garden evolve which has largely been
attributed to the on-going community support and feedback. If you
have any ideas to add to the community garden please contact Tory at
the Shire on [email protected] or 9889 1006.
