REQUIREMENTS

All District Employees must abide by all

policies/procedures regarding the Instructional Materials

Adoption process.

Employees cannot accept a commission or rebate on any

instructional materials used in the school.

The offense is a Class B Misdemeanor.

Voting Delegates are required to receive training on the

adoption process.

Keep record and documentation of the Instructional

Materials Adoption Process.

Campus – Textbook Voting Guidelines

All eligible teachers vote - January 26 – February

12, 2015

Download and print ballots and tally sheets from my.episd.org

Instructional Materials link. Proclamation 2015.

Review campus voting procedures with voting teachers & obtain

signatures. (signature sheet must be submitted with voting packet)

Arrange for alternate and/or other teachers to assist with handing out,

collecting and tallying the ballots.

Tally the votes on the tally sheet as follows: For Elementary there are

2 categories (K-2 and 3-5) , for Middle School 1 category (6-8),

Indicate next to the title the total number of 1st place ranking received

at the campus. The title with the highest number of 1st place ranking

will be the campus selection.

Teachers must sign the tally sheet.

Remind teachers they must refrain from any contact with a publisher or

an agent of the publisher during the closed period.

Campus Textbook Voting Procedures

Window – January 26 – February 12, 2015

All ballots and tally sheets must be hand delivered to PDC on

February 12th from 4-6pm.

A teacher is eligible to vote if he/she has taught the course in the

last two years.

A teacher must refrain from voting if during the last two years

he/she received any money from an author or publishing

company if books are on the adoption list.

All balloting is done on the forms provided. Ballots are not to be

signed.

Campus Textbook Voting Procedures

Window – January 26 – February 12, 2015

Rank the titles - #1 being the first choice, #2 being the second

choice etc. . Only the first place title will be counted on the tally

sheet. Any ballot with the same rank for more than one title cannot

be counted.

All ballots must be tallied (counted) in the presence of those voting.

Indicate next to the title the total number of 1st place ranking

received at the campus. The title with the highest number of 1st

place ranking will be the campus selection. Each person voting

must sign the Tally Sheets.

When voting is completed, all ballots and tally sheets must be hand

delivered to PDC on February 12, 2015 between 4-6pm.

IMPORTANT

Teachers may vote only if they are currently teaching or have

taught the subject/course

Teachers must not vote if they were employed or received any

money from a publishing company that has a textbook on the

adoption list.

All campus personnel must refrain from contact with a

publisher during the “closed period”. January 26 through the

ratification of the recommendations at a board meeting in April.

All ballots and tally sheets must be hand delivered to PDC on

Feb. 12th between 4-6 p.m.

Until the report on the teachers selections has been presented

to and ratified by the Board of Trustees, a proposed selection is

not final and must remain confidential.
