PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE It is that time of the year again when love is in the air. The month of February hosts Valentine’s Day, when we celebrate our love of partners, family and friends. Over the course of the month you will undoubtedly see lots of quotes about living well, laughing often and loving well. My quote for the month is: “Life is short, break the rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that made you smile.” We are at that point in our lives when we can do all of those things, so let’s celebrate that freedom. It is also that time of the year when we on the Management Committee are turning our minds to the future running of the Club. Over the next four months, the Nominating Committee will be looking for volunteers to fill positions on the Management Committee. Of course, some of us will volunteer to continue in the positions we currently hold, but every position, except that of President is up for grabs. (Bill Meldrum, 1 st Vice President, will automatically become President next year, pursuant to By-law 3(2). If you feel that your experience or skills would be an asset in the running of this club, or if you are just feeling altruistic, we would love to hear from you. Just remember, the Club does not run itself; it relies on volunteers like you to keep it going. Sylvia

Over the next four months, the Nominating Committee will be looking for volunteers to fill positions on the Management Committee. Of course, some of us will volunteer to continue in the positions we currently hold, but every position, except that of President is up for grabs. SPEAKER – JEFF SHEARER

Nullam ac ipsum gravida sem placerat suscipit.

Last Month’s Speaker:

Mark Wolfson spoke about travel photography. He shared with us some of his Iceland photos from November 2014. Mark revealed some of the challenges a photographer encounters when taking the perfect photo. Some of his tips were: Dress for the shoot, bring extra batteries, even camera instructions, filters, tripod, etc. Take the shot when you see it. Turn around, you might have the perfect shot right behind you. Work for your shot.

Needless to say I got very inspired, which brings me to ask how many members would like to form our very own Probus of Mountain View Camera Club….

Let’s talk about it…. Rachel

The founder and visionary of On The Bay magazine, Jeff has enjoyed a distinguished career in the top echelons of the Canadian magazine industry. He is the former publisher of one of Canada’s most respected publications, Saturday Night magazine, and was publisher of Applied Arts magazine. Jeff also served as president of Telemedia Publishing, where he oversaw leading magazines such as Harrowsmith, Equinox, Canadian Living and Western Living. Recognized by Marketing magazine as one of the Top Ten Marketers in Canada, Jeff was also named Magazine Person of the Year for his “outstanding contribution to ongoing excellence in the Canadian magazine industry.” Before moving to the Collingwood area to launch On The Bay in 2004, Jeff was Vice President, Marketing of the Toronto Star. More recently Jeff was chair of the Collingwood BIA, served as a trustee of the CGMH and was a director of the Georgian Bay Association. Currently he is a founding director of the recently formed Institute of Southern Georgian Bay.

The NORCS and the NATS!

How Amenity Migration has transformed Southern Georgian Bay into a unique community of mind, place and spirit.

Looking back 50 years, few communities anywhere have changed so demographically and so psychographically as Southern Georgian Bay. We trace the steps that have led to our arrival and look into the future and what it holds for all of us who live here.
