hosting at their Huntsville Condo - 35 Dairy Lane, Suite 101.
Our theme will be "Autumn...Naturally!" This theme should
provide us all with lots of scope for capturing nature during
this most colorful of seasons. So let's try for colourful land-
scapes and close-ups of everything that nature has to offer!
If you cannot appear in person, emailed images to

Wine Appreciation
Contact: Jeff and Ann Cox 685-9900
We meet once a month, usually in the late afternoon as a
group of 12 or less in a member’s home. Each person pays
$15 to the host who is responsible for choosing and buying
the wine for that month as well as providing simple
appetizers.
There is a final get together of everyone at which we choose
our favorite wine of the year.
This group is organized much like the dining in groups,
where people who are away a number of months will be
spread throughout the groups, so "snowbirds" can join in.
Dining IN
Contact: Barbara Burton 788-0059
We have had 7 full groups this year, (over 80 people!),
including a snowbird (May- Oct) group and a group capped
at 10 rather than 12.
Groups meet once a month for the year, rotating hosts. The
host provides the main dish and sets the theme if any. The
rest select or are assigned dishes to complete the meal.
Members provide their own beverage. Groups decide when
to meet. A fun way to interact with members of your club.
Sign up for 2016 will take place at the October and
November meeting (or contact me). You will be asked to
indicate your full months away (so we can balance the
groups); and chose one of : regular 12 people; 10 people
only; weekends only; snowbird, or to be on the "spare" list.
Barb has provided an addendum in the newsletter so
people will be sure to include all the info needed.

Dining 2016 In Sign Up Info-PLEASE READ
New groups will be drawn and announced in December. Sign up will be at the Oct and Nov meeting, or
email me with all of the requested info below if you cannot make either meeting.
1. Be sure the email address that membership chair Betsy Rothwell has is correct as this is the info
that will go out to your group for contact.
2. Names- people sign up in pairs as the idea is to dine all 12 months, with each pair hosting twice.
Therefore singles can host once each. If you need a partner and can’t find one, sign as a single
and I will try to match you up, or we may end up with a group of 11. There is an attempt to
balance out the male/female ratio in each group.
3. Full months away: please be as accurate as possible, as the attempt is to balance groups so
there are enough to dine each month.
4. Snowbird group(s): designed for those only here 6 months, will run May to Oct. Last year this
was requested by 7 couples and one kindly agreed to move to a regular group. If there were
enough for 2 groups this year it would allow some change over.
5. Weekends: a number of people have indicated they wish to have their weekends free for family
and other company, whereas there are some members who are still back and forth from the
city during the week. Please indicate if you wish to be part of a weekend only group; or if you
wish to avoid weekends; or if you don’t care which group you end up in. (Most groups chose a
convenient date 2 or 3 months at a time when all have their calendars. It gets very difficult if the
above wishes are not taken into consideration).
6. Size: normal groups are full at 12 people. The idea is that each pair can host twice to cover all 12
months, or once for the snowbird group. It also allows the host to provide the main dish and
assign or request some variation of appetizers, starch, veg, soup/salad, and desert to the other 5
pairs. You do not have to be able to seat all 12 at one table, and it is easy to sign up for months
when you know someone is away. Some people have requested 10 people only- please indicate
this on the sheet.
7. Mixing it up! The idea of Dining In is to get to interact with as many Probus members over the
years as possible. The groups are drawn and juggled to accommodate all the above factors with
as much mix up as possible. If you want to let me know of up to 3 pairs you have not been with
before, and up to 3 pairs you have been with too much, please send me
[email protected] an email, after you have signed up, with the info and the title Dining
In. We will try our best to honour at least part of your request. But please be aware there is
likely to be some overlap from year to year.
8. Spare List: If you would like to be posted as a spare for months when a group is trying to fill its
numbers, please sign up as a spare on the back of the sheets, or email me.
