2 - Sales Guide ProTM C5200s / ProTM C5210s

Pro C5200s and Pro C5210s are light production printers. They deliver vibrant high quality colour output at speed, they support a wide variety of media, including coated SRA3 stock, and they can neatly fold and saddle stitch output ready for distribution. Aligning a compact design with high-end performance, these productive powerhouses can replace larger and less capable machines, releasing space.

Pro C5200s prints vibrant 4,800 x 1,200 dpi colour output at a speed of 65 pages a minute and Pro C5210s, at a speed of 80 pages a minute. The imaging system employs VCSEL technology (vertical cavity surface emitting lasers) and ultra-fine PxP chemical toner to produce beautifully rendered output of offset quality. The toner has a wide colour gamut and produces vivid life-like colours with smooth tonal gradation.

Pro C5200s and Pro C5210s provide class-leading media support and can print reliably onto plain paper, textured card and coated stock. Media of up to 300 gsm can be fed via the standard trays, whilst the bypass supports 360 gsm media and will feed banner stock of up to 320 x 1,260 mm. The integrated media library simplifies set up and ensures that optimum settings are applied.

Automating job build, the single-pass duplex feeder (SPDF) scans double-sided originals at a speed of 220 images per minute. The standard paper capacity of 3,850 sheets can be increased to a massive 8,250 sheets and, with the operator able to replenish toner and paper on-the-fly, the new production printers can run virtually non-stop.

Ricoh’s integrated GW controller provides PCL print functionality. Adobe Postscript 3 is an upgrade option and there is a genuine IPDS unit that enables transactional data, such as invoices and statements, to be printed accurately with page-level reporting. To support customers with fiery workflows, Ricoh also offers a choice of two EFI print servers.

1. Introduction

The new production printers have a conventional operation panel of the keypad and touchscreen type favoured by many professional print operatives. Ricoh's award winning 10.1" Smart Operation Panel is offered as an option. The Smart Operation Panel expands functionality. It is equipped with a web browser and supports Ricoh smart apps, such Conference Concierge and ID Card Copy, which simplify operation.

Pro C5200s and Pro C5210s supersede Pro C5100s and Pro C5110s. A new toner control system increases yield and enhancements to the paper transport mechanism improve registration and reliability. Attention has also been paid to the working environment. New sound suppression technology reduces operating noise by between 40% and 60%, making the new printers comfortably the quietest in their class.

Ricoh also markets office versions of this product, MP C6503SP and MP C8003SP. There are significant differences between the office and production versions. Pro C5200s and Pro C5210s support a wider range of media, offer better productivity on heavyweight media, deliver more consistent image quality, have heavier duty finishing options and can be maintained by trained operators to reduce downtime.

Pro C5200s and Pro C5210s are designed for light production applications. Compact, fast and affordable, they will allow print prooviders with low-to-mid volume requirements, such as design agencies, print-for-pays and digital printers, to cost effectively produce personalised colour print collateral of exceptionally high quality on a wide range of media.

Pro C5200s and Pro C5210s are positioned below the Pro C7100 series in Ricoh’s colour cut-sheet range. Although Pro C5200s and Pro C5210s are fast and produce print of comparable quality to the Pro C7100 series, Ricoh’s Pro C7100 series production printers will handle much larger volumes, offer better productivity on heavy stock

and can be configured with a wider range of finishing solutions, including stackers and wire/glue binding systems. The Pro C7100 series X and SX models also support five colour printing.

Ricoh has also introduced office versions of the Pro C5200s and Pro C5210s. Sharing the design platform helped to reduce development costs. MP C6503SP and MP C8003SP run at the same express speed as Pro C5200s and Pro C5210s and produce print of the same outstanding quality. Pro C5200s and Pro C5210s are however optimised for light production applications.

Pro C5200s and Pro C5210s succeed Pro C5100s and Pro C5110s. The new production printers employ the same advanced technology as their predecessors (VCSEL imaging system, chemical PxP toner, Ricoh media library etc) and the basic specifications such as speed, resolution and capacity remain the same. GBC StreamPunch Ultra MP Pro C5200s and Pro C5210s support the latest GBC StreamPunch (same unit as Pro C9100/C7100/8100). This unit supports paper formats up to A3 (the previous unit only supported A4) and can be used to punch calendars and other larger format documents.

The new models are compact floor-standing multifunctional production printers. They offer colour print, copy and scan functionality as standard. Multi-Folding Unit (option FD4000)

The multi-folding units supports 6 fold patterns: 2-fold, 3-fold in and 3-fold out (1 to 3 sheets), Z-fold, gate-fold and double parallel-fold (single sheet). The fold position can be adjusted via the operation panel.

Saves time by automating the folding process. The ‘letter-out’ fold will, for example, enable customers to print and fold letters, invoices and statements ready for insertion into DL sized window envelopes.

The Plockmatic booklet maker produces booklets of up to 35 sheets / 140 pages with a magazine fold. The booklet maker will handle media sizes of up 320 x 457mm and media weights of up to 300 gsm and will produce up to 1800 booklets an hour.

The Plockmatic booklet making system reduces the need for manual finishing and adds value to finished booklets. It can be easily detached from the printer when not required and used off-line.

Plockmatic PBM500-m (option, requires PMB350-m and PBM500-m upgrade kit)
