1.1 Executive Summary
This document describes the main communication channels and the dissemination and
communication activities performed during the last eight months of FIWARE project.
A key section, in the beginning of this document, is the Communication Strategy Plan that sets
and assesses the focus and targets of the whole communication chapter in the three years of
the FI-WARE project.
The document itself is organized in the following sections:
Web Site, social channels and promotional material
Communication activities
Dissemination activities
During May till December 2014 the Communication and Dissemination strategy has shifted to its
final goal: expose FIWARE as a product for long tail developers and not an experimental project.
Renaming FI-WARE to FIWARE and FI-LAB and FI-OPS to FIWARE Lab and FIWARE Ops was
part of the implementation strategy during this phase, together with significant changes in the
website, the launch of a press-office and a dedicated relevant section on the FIWARE
Acceleration Programme. A Weblog including selected contributors’ articles describing “how-to”s
and practical use-cases by entrepreneurs plus an active youtube audiovisual channel have
completed the communication outreach which is shown in the extraordinary evolution of the
statistics of the Web, forge and social channels included in the present document.
Finally, FIWARE has organized and played relevant roles in massive events with outstanding
booths, key-note speeches and technical oriented and training workshops.
This document is complementary to the following ones describing in detail relevant
dissemination and communication actions:

1.2 About This Document
FIWARE communication activities aim to influence the broader community and also developers
fostering the adoption of FIWARE results by means of:
Publishing technical and scientific papers to boost the dissemination within the Research
Community.
Participating in relevant industrial events such as conferences, workshops, symposiums
or Code Camps or in events organized by the EU. Specific effort will be made to inform
Open Source communities through participation at relevant events.
Large events with hackathons and contests for thousands of developers creating the
FIWARE developers community.
1.3 Intended Audience
The document targets interested parties in the FIWARE communication actions and resources.
Those interested on the technology foundation of the FI-PPP services in different vertical sectors
may find also useful pointers.

1.5 Typographical Conventions
Starting with October 2012 FIWARE improved the quality and streamlined the submission
process for deliverables, generated out of the public and private FIWARE wiki. The project is
currently working on the migration of as many deliverables as possible towards the new system.
This document is rendered with semi-automatic scripts out of a MediaWiki system operated by
the FIWARE consortium.

2 Communication, Collaboration and Dissemination
FIWARE Communication and Dissemination activities have significantly been improved and
aligned with the latest phase of the FIWARE Communication Plan presented during the first year
of the project.
The focus on this phase has been to expose FIWARE as a product to enable developers and
entrepreneurs to build up Future Internet Apps with a significant success in the areas of
Smartcities and IoT. The evolution and final status of the social channels statistics proof a
community considering FIWARE adoption has been created and keeps own growing. A massive
adoption will depend now onwards on the launch of commercial instances of FIWARE nodes
beyond the FIWARE Lab experimentation facility.
FIWARE delivers a FutureInternet OS-like platform making easier and faster Vertical
applications development.
The FIWARE product is not only the platform but also the large ecosystem created by
connecting opendata and sensors information from different living scenarios, such as
smartcities.
FIWARE has started to be largely used by developers out of the traditional EU-research
sphere thanks to the large Hackathons, challenges and training events where
participants normally had no previous contact with EU FP7 projects at all.
The following picture shows the specific tasks developed during this period as part of the
Communication chapter of FIWARE. The present document focuses on all of them, except
Collaboration activities that are reported in the D12.3.1-4 documents.

Communication Targets & Implementation
Our Communication strategy mainly targets 3rd party developers and stakeholders who
are already exploiting and benefiting from the FIWARE product and technology. Our
product is shown and promoted with the FIWARE Web Site, social channels and
promotional material, while developers looking for technology details and outcomes
should refer to the Weblog and the FIWARE Wiki.
Additionally, as the core instrument of the FIWARE PPP, Communication activities are
devoted to mobilize key EU and worldwide stakeholders, market makers and policy
makers. The main outcomes of this section for this period are included in the Press
Office tasks and related section in the Web.
Dissemination activities section covers the traditional research project scientific papers
and panels, articles, book chapters, events, etc. But it also covers the hackathons,
challenges and developers training events specific to a product-oriented initiative.
Collaboration activities section which means FIWARE leading and coordinating the
cooperation with the FI-PPP Use-case projects and other initiatives beyond the FI-PPP
scope. As previously stated, the present document does not cover Collaboration
Activities, that will be reported in D12.3.x documents.

3 Web Site, Social channels and promotional material
During the period May to December 2014 a number of global changes in the project has affected
heavily on the Communication Strategy and, therefore, on the implementation of several actions
on the different channels.
These changes can be summarized as follows:
1. FIWARE moves from a project-based communication to a brand/product oriented line,
reflecting the overall strategic shift from technical to commercial approach.
2. A comprehensive communication instrument is put in place from July 1st 2014 onwards to
better serve communication needs. The so-called Press Office is set to act as one-stop
shop for marketing and communications for all FIWARE PPP projects, under a unique
brand & messaging strategy.
3. During the last part of the FIWARE project (September to December 2014) new actors
joined the FIWARE family. Namely, the 3rd Phase projects (FIWARE Accelerators,
FIWARE CSAs), helping to the build a real ecosystem around the brand and the
products.
The evolution of FIWARE has been continuously applied to the different actions. This is
especially crucial when talking about the Owned Media.
3.1 FIWARE Website Review
The FIWARE Website (www.fiware.org) has evolved to a more professional and commercial
version during this period. The current structure reflects the different targets of our product with
separate messages and contents for each of them.

This target-oriented approach is complemented with different sections to answers the needs of
web visitors. Accessible through the main menu the following sections are easily at hand:
About: ( http://www.fiware.org/about/ ): A global vision on FIWARE. This section is under
review to better reflect FIWARE current positioning.
Blog: ( http://www.fiware.org/blog/ ): A live container of articles, opinions and news in a fresh
format. Open to contribution from selected FIWARE stakeholders. Please refer to Section 3.2 of
this document for further details.
Events: ( http://www.fiware.org/events/ ): One of the new sections added during this period. This
section contains an interactive calendar with information on all the events organized by the
different FIWARE actors, catalogued by date and type of event (Conferences / Hackthons / Info
Sessions / Workshops). A versatile plug-in has been put in place to easily manage it and to offer
ready-to-use capabilities to visitors.
Competitions: ( http://www.fiware.org/category/events/challenges-events/ ) A repository of the
results of the challenges run during 2013-2014. It includes testimonials from selected awarded
teams. Under reorganization.
Press: (http://www.fiware.org/press-coverage/ ) List of external references on the media about
FIWARE. Also includes a press contact facility.
FIWARE Accelerate: The new section devoted to explain the Acceleration Programme and
facilitate contact with the 16 FIWARE Accelerators.
a. Programme Page: (http://www.fiware.org/fiware-accelerator-programme/ ) Explaining
what the program is about, presenting the call, the benefits and the market in a simple
scrolling page which includes a promotional video developed with the participation of
representatives of the Accelerator partners and other FIWARE stakeholders.
b. Accelerators Page: A summary of the 16 Accelerators, including its profile, target
markets, Open Call Scheduling and direct links to their respective webpages / platforms
to facilitate SMEs reaching the registration pages for each of them. Organized by target
markets, this is a snapshot of the page design:
Help / Contact: ( http://www.fiware.org/contact-us/ ) A comprehensive list of contact points to
solve questions and issues, including a link to the FAQ section.
The website is very much a live tool and therefore it is continuously being redesigned and
updated following program needs. A non-comprehensive list of the on-going actions affecting the
website are:
a. Events: Optimization of the By-Category sorting. Standarisation and protocolization of
the internal communications to include events in the Event Calendar.
b. Inclusion of FIWARE Ecosystem information (naming tbc): This section will include
new FIWARE partners devoted to tasks such as internationalization (FIWARE Mundus
Programme), collecting and analysis of results of the Acceleration Programme, Open
Calls for Open Innovation Hubs, etc.
c. Improvement of the Developers navigating experience: A Journey for Developers is
being envisaged following the aim of the FIWARE Technical Whitepaper recently

delivered. It will include success stories and testimonials on how to use FIWARE from
scratch and the experiences of these companies/individuals with FIWARE platform and
components.
d. Even being an external resource, a design for the Main Page of the FIWARE catalogue
is underway to improve consistency along this developer journey, of which the catalogue
is the last stop.
e. For each of the target groups shown in the main page a Unique Selling Proposition
(USP) is being created. Much based in benefits, these USPs should help to FIWARE
adoption by the different groups. Special effort will be devoted to Data Providers and
Stakeholders in this aspect.
f. About section will be renewed with information in a more commercial-like approach, in
line with the USPs for the different targets.
g. Last but not least, the home page itself will be suffering different changes as the
mentioned changes / additions happen to include them with visibility in the Website.
Finally, let us remark that the URL itself has changed from www.fi-ware.eu to www.fiware.org.
This is an important step in showing both the new non-hyphened identity (explained later in this
document) and the shift from projects (.eu domain) to brand/product (.org domain). To make the
transition smoother a complete redirection policy is in place to ensure no visits are lost due to
the domain name changes.
3.2 The Weblog ( www.fiware.org/blog )
As FIWARE evolves the quantity and quality of the information eligible for curation and
publication at the weblog is increasing. Very much a dissemination tool, the weblog represents
an opportunity to further elaborate on news, success stories and the like.
As an important step in terms of diversity, not only the Press Office team but selected
contributors have issued valuable content for the blog in the last months. The editorial policy is
now structured and included in the global conversation calendar that drives day-to-day activities.
The role of the weblog is in line with the main strategy: focus on real stories, on success cases
coming from the different sources available. Starting with the Phase 2 Use Cases and shifting
little by little to the SMEs selected by the Acceleration Program – showing a growing footprint of
FIWARE usage throughout Europe.

A post summarizing 2014 closed the period May-December. A total of 46 blog posts were issued
during this timeframe. From the Acceleration Program to FIWARE Challenges information, the
weblog represents a live container to review the brand evolution and shows the continuous
growth in terms of its presence and relevance.
3.3 FIWARE Social Properties
3.3.1. On-line Conversation Screening (OCS) – Phase 2
As part of the tasks developed around the FIWARE Social Ecosystem a new wave of the OCS
was performed during the summer of 2014. This study, performed by a well-known external
company, Empirica, is a comprehensive listening work of FIWARE and its related terms and
competitors throughout the network. This collection of data is afterwards categorized and
analysed by experts, ending into a detailed report which shows the position and health of our
brand in the different scenarios of the digital communication ecosystem.

The most relevant conclusions are summarized below for your convenience:
FIWARE presence in the network has clearly improved. It represents now a Share of
Voice of 9,5% vs. 1,5% one year ago. In absolute terms, the mean number of mentions
in the network has gone up to 1305 / month, compared with 165 in 2013.
FIWARE conversation is centered in Twitter. Starts to be present in some developer’s
communities and ecosystems, however it is still stimulated by FIWARE itself and the
public and private companies around the PPP initiative.
FIWARE conversation starts to include some discussion about its operating
capabilities. Even with the doubts inherent to any new development this is a very
promising sign of the product being adopted or at least considered.
Conversation around FIWARE presents a clear positive sentiment. 41% of the
mentions can be rated as positive while only 6% are negative. Nevertheless an opinion
trend against FIWARE raised based on two specific articles in Tech Crunch and GenBeta
– criticizing FIWARE as a marketing-only, challenge-based initiative without real future or
real application beyond.
Regarding a sectorial approach, FIWARE is well positioned in:
o SMART CITIES: With some advantage to other players based on the existence of
several success stories. FIWARE should build harder on this to maintain the
position and also should drive the message of serving citizens rather than
controlling them.
o Internet of Things (IoT): FIWARE is considered as one of the references in this
area. The conversation should stress integration with other platforms and security
to even better position in this arena.
On the other hand, FIWARE position is weak compared with major competitors (such
as Google and Amazon) in all the sectors and areas where those companies are playing
commercial wars. This is a normal situation as FIWARE is not yet in the position of
competing at price level, or even at QoS yet. However it should be taken into account to
understand the full competitive picture:
o Big Data, Cloud Services: Currently a commodity, much based in price. For non-
massive applications there is a opportunity to play a role, always based in added-
value and, mainly, on security and confidentiality.
o Market: Dominated by Amazon, a mature sub-sector with little space for
competitors.
o Identity Management: Again, dominated by Google and Facebook, a niche
opportunity for a new player who can offer better security and confidentiality
features.

3.3.2. Specific performance by Channel
FIWARE ecosystem is, as reported in previous deliverables, centered around Twitter and
Linkedin. This is a typical structure of B2B companies, who use more professional oriented
networks to spread their messages to their respective target audiences.
Facebook and Google+ are also part of this Ecosystem. In the case of Facebook to exploit the
possibility of maintaining a more relaxed and informal conversation with the target, also including
side information interesting for the audience but not directly related to FIWARE product.
Google+ is a must to reinforce search engines positioning, especially for Google Search and
YouTube.
The picture completes with a series of information containers. Beyond the website itself as the
landing platform for in-depth information around all aspects of the brand, YouTube channel
contains the audiovisual assets, Flickr the photographs and SlideShare the presentations and
infographics. All these assets are referenced through the day-to-day posting dynamizing the
traffic throughout the full FIWARE Digital Ecosystem.
It follows a summary of the most relevant KPIs of these networks and their evolution in the

Twitter: https://twitter.com/FIware
With an increment of 2269 followers in these 8 months, which represents about 10 new followers
per day, FIWARE Twitter account is now the most successful network to spread out FIWARE
message. An average of 4 tweets per working day was achieved, with a positive Engagement
rate of 0,265%, corresponding to more than 9K mentions, over 2K retweets and almost 700
replies.
The most interesting behavior besides those numbers is the continuous pace of joining
followers. Whereas in earlier periods FIWARE Twitter profile evolution was much influenced by
the presence of the brand in big events – and the noise of targeted actions at these events –
during the last months the rise in the number of followers is much more organic and healthy, with
individuals joining just because of the growing relevance of FIWARE within the different groups
of interest.

LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/FIWARE-4239932
A long-term strategy has been put in place for the Linkedin FIWARE Group. As the brand is
turning its message into a more commercial / business talk, Linkedin is gaining momentum not
only by “recruiting” new members but starting to show activity in the form of discussions around
the technology, the acceleration program and the news generated by the different stakeholders.
It is still a bit too early to analyze statistics, but more than 600 members have joined the group
and a mean of 2 discussions per week are generated. The membership profile is very promising,
with C-level executives and company owners from SMEs taking part more and more on the loop.
The importance of Linkedin will grow as the brand continues taking steps towards its definitive
business scheme beyond EC project framework.

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/eu.fiware
Even being a network more suitable for individuals and B2C companies, FIWARE has taken the
opportunity to leverage its presence in the Social space by maintaining a Facebook profile. As
mentioned before the type of publications and the tone of the speech are much more informal,
centered around visual content and including some unbranded content that generates
engagement among our target audiences.
The strategy has proven successful. In 8 months the fans have multiplied almost by 3 and by the
time of writing this report are over 2,000 already. However, being this KPI important as it will
generate a critical mass, which is really valuable is the interaction ratio of almost 0,9%, which
shows a real value and affinity of the contents served through this channel. The pace of
publishing is between 2 and 3 posts per week, for a total of 87 posts.
YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/FIWARE
YouTube is, as of today, not only a container for audiovisual material, but a Social Network in
itself. Moreover is the second absolute searching tool used at WW level, only after Google
Search. For all these reasons is highly recommendable for any brand to make extensive usage
of this network to show relevant messages in video format.
FIWARE Youtube channel as of December 31st 2014, comprises 93 videos with more than 75K
views. The number of subscribers went dramatically up in the May-December period to more
than 400. The total viewing time spent in our channel accounts for almost a year.
In a later section of this document references to the most popular videos are made. Please refer
there for further information on them.

3.4. Promotional Material
Following the evolution of the Brand, different promotional materials have been designed,
produced and distributed. Much linked with the support to events, these materials comprise a
variety of formats, from stands to notebooks, from infographics to banners, from T-shirts to
leaflets.
3.4.1. Support to Events
During the period May to December 2014 a number of Events were attended by FIWARE and
supported with different promotional materials. The most relevant events are listed here below,
along with a link to their respective materials. Note in some cases the provided links point to
what is called “Final Arts”. These are ready-to-print files including some technical add-on’s such

Campus Party™ Mexico – June 2014
FIWARE was a Gold sponsor in this event, targeted at Developers, in which the official
announcement of a FIWARE Lab node took place among other activities. Please refer to the
correspondent dedicated report on this event for further details (it can be accessed as public
information at the FIWARE forge).
In terms of marketing support a stand was designed and produced for the event. This is the
render image of it:
Also a T-shirt was designed and produced. Unfortunately it could not be distributed due to issues
at Mexican customs.
Finally different challenges for developers were run at the event. Apart from the promotion and

ECFI 2nd Edition – September 2014, Munich
The European Conference on the Future Internet is the program level event of the FIWARE
PPP. In the Second Edition the opportunity was taken to officially launch the Acceleration
Program (3rd Phase of the Project). With the presence of Senior Management of the companies
and selected representatives from the European Commission the announcement of the 16
Accelerator Consortia selected for this phase was made, with great emphasis on the 80 Million
Euro devoted to SMEs all along Europe to be distributed in the next couple of years.
Several materials were developed to support this event and the commented piece of news,
starting with the promotion of the event through the different channels. This is an example of the

Very much in the same code, a big banner for decoration at the event was designed and
produced. This was the central piece of communication during the event:
FIWARE Multisite Event – Spain, October 2014
Organized by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, a multisite event was held in Seville, Gran
Canaria and Valencia for three days, in which several FIWARE stakeholders, including SMEs
and Accelerators discussed and build the future for FIWARE. Along with this activity, FIWARE
took the opportunity to run the FIWARE Challenges Finals. These finals awarded the FIWARE
Society Challenge and also the FIWARE Excellence Challenge, which gathers the winners of the
FIWARE Society Challenge along with the winners of the other two challenges run and awarded
at the Campus Party Brazil in February 2014.
A dedicated landing page for the event was developed, along with a campaign to promote it. In
the venue of Valencia, the multisite event was combined with a FIWARE Startup Weekend
Special Edition. These events, supported by FIWARE through the Press Office and by selected
speakers, are discussed separately in this document.
Smart City Expo World Congress – Barcelona, November 2014
Following the experience from 2013, and being Smart Cities a key market for FIWARE, the
SCEWC was considered a key event and FIWARE played a sponsorship role.
The center of the activities was around our stand, designed by a well-known visual artist,
Boamistura (www.boamistura.com/). The space depicted different messages from different angles,
all related to the FIWARE world and the Smart Cities universe, and was used for interviews,
meetings, point of information and to demo some of the FIWARE success stories to date. A total of 8
presentations were performed. Ad-hoc Twitter pieces were used to announce this on-site.
On top of the activity at the stand, a number of conferences, workshops and a boot camp were run
during the event attracting different targets, from institutional to SMEs, thus spreading FIWARE
around the Smart Cities stakeholder community.

Startup Weekend FIWARE Special Edition – Diverse locations, 4Q2014
Startup Weekend events started to be organized from September 2014 onwards. They started in
a stand-alone mode, run by Startup Europe as partner of the FIWARE consortium, and based on
their own resources, including a FIWARE evangelist properly training.
From October 2014, and in order to enhance the results of the events, a new format was
proposed which involved FIWARE specialists from the Technical Chapters, running challenges
upon the participants.
FIWARE Press Office supported the events with generic communication materials (such as
leaflets and roll-up’s, and by creating videos as an award for the winning teams in each location.
These videos are not uploaded into the YouTube domain as the stage of progress of the
application is still in the concept phase. The featured companies have been given the videos for
their own use, and FIWARE will keep an eye on their path to real products to understand
whether they can become a Success Story and/or FIWARE Ambassadors.
3.4.2 Generic Marketing Materials
In order to answer the needs for day-to-day materials, a number of different items have been
designed and produced to be used either in events and/or digital channels throughout the project
life.

Two different brochures were developed and produced. Please note these
are live documents which are reviewed either because a significant
change has happened and/or anytime that they need to be reprinted. The
links provided point to the latest available version at the time of issuing
this document.
- A folded general purpose FIWARE brochure which explains all
aspects of the platform. When fully unfolded on one side 16
different tabs covers the essential information about different
topics around the brand. The other side is the FIWARE infography
(see below).
- A brochure devoted to the FIWARE Accelerator Programme. It
explains throughout fully the Programme with its conditions, the
partners involved etc. In the latest versions, selected results from
the 1st Open Call are included.
c) Infographics
A number of these materials have been developed. They have different
uses, starting with spreading information in a very visual format through
the different channels, especially Social Media. Also they can serve (and
have served) as the base to generate different digital pieces such as
banners, and also off-line materials such as roll-up’s. These infographics
are stored in the FIWARE SlideShare Channel, as previously mentioned

3.5.1. The FIWARE Website, Forge and Wiki: Current Statistics
The FIWARE Website statistics during this period demonstrates the large outreach of FIWARE
beyond the EU research community and thus meeting the goal of creating an actual community
of developers and interested third parties.
In the previous period, the top month was September 2013 with a total of 9.6K hits and 5.2K
unique hits. For this reporting period, all months after Jun 2014 are higher – and most times
more than double – and October 2014 tops with a total of 86.7K hits and 41.2K unique hits.
Note the following diagram only include statistics from April 2014 onwards as long as that was
the point when the new domains (fiware instead of fi-ware) were configured.

The FIWARE forge statistics do also show a strong growth as long as September almost
doubles the average stats with a total of 5.2K unique visitors and 9.6K overall hits.
For the FIWARE forge tools, in the previous period, the top month was September 2013 with a
total of 31.5K hits and 11.5K unique hits. For this reporting period, all months after Jun 2014 are
higher than the previously mentioned peak also and October 2014 tops with a total of 47.6K hits
and 20.6K unique hits. Therefore the usage of the Wiki and other forge tools has been
significantly higher in order to address the commitments of GEs specification, development and
documentation.

4 Communication activities You can find the content of this chapter as well in the wiki of FIWARE.
During the last month of this project and especially after 3rd Phase was launched, a sharp shift in
communications has happened. Very much due to a willing to change into a more commercial
mood, a number of actions have been performed to better serve market needs and to prepare
the launch of FIWARE as a real product into the market.
A non-exhaustive list of these actions is explained here:
- Revision of the FIWARE branding, and inclusion of new actors into it, specifically the
FIWARE Acceleration Program as the real tool to connect technology with real
businesses (SMEs and Entrepreneurs).
- Concentration of messages around a unique brand, FIWARE, shading visibility of the
projects beneath it and the PPP itself, especially in terms of brand image and external
channels (Web and Social Media).
- Creation of the so-called FIWARE Press Office to act as brand guardian and provide all
FIWARE stakeholders with the marketing activities and materials needed to reflect the
status and needs of the whole program.
Disclaimer: The FIWARE Press Office is part of the FIWARE Project and the CONCORD CSA.
Therefore, part of the actions, materials and activities described in this deliverable and
concurrent with both projects and may be duplicated in the correspondent deliverables for the
sake of completeness. The boundary between projects is diffuse, especially when dealing with
event participation, global brand guidelines and the like.
In this chapter we will discuss:
- The FIWARE Brand Identity review (4.1)

4.1 FIWARE Brand Identity Review
As discussed, the need for a more homogenous communication around the brand was viewed
as a must by the launch of Phase 3, back in July 2014. A number of actions were performed
following the guidelines of different actors within the program.

a) Renaming of FI-WARE to FIWARE: The elimination of the hyphen between the two
words was executed, affecting all communications, web and social properties, etc.
Maintaining Future Internet (FI) as part of the naming, the new approach moves into the
product arena rather than reflecting a project (ware = technology foundation) within the
concept of Future Internet.
b) Renaming of other instances within the FIWARE Universe. Specifically
- FI-LAB (The experimentation instance for developers) was turned into FIWARE
Lab, building on the idea of transforming it into a sub-product under the same
brand.
- FI-OPS (The set of tools for providers of technology) was turned into FIWARE
Ops. The reason being very much the same of that of FIWARE Lab. This brand
belongs to XIFI project – which will be integrated shortly into FIWARE Technology
Foundation continuation project.
c) To serve Phase 3 project a new visual Universe, linked intimal with the FIWARE one was
created under the concept of the FIWARE Accelerator Programme. These creative
assets are at disposal of any of the respective Acceleration Consortia to build on the first
Commercial approach of FIWARE: The 80 M€ for SMEs and Entrepreneurs to build real
products onto the platform.

4.2 FIWARE Audiovisual Materials
Already mentioned in this document (YouTube activity) a growing number of audiovisual
materials have been developed. In terms of content, we are moving from the academic-
technological side into the commercial side. As time goes by, more success stories, promotional
content, advertising-like pieces are expecting to grow, leveraging the pure technical oriented
side which is now being replaced by physical trainings, the support of the CSAs actions and
presentations.

A total of 93 videos accounting for more than 75 K views were available at the FIWARE
YouTube channel by December 31st, 2014. This channel is the cornerstone of the audiovisual
activity, but videos can also be used to be embedded in selected forums, communities, etc.
under a Paid Media strategy – as the one performed with the Accelerator Programme
Promotional Video in September-October 2014. Also to note that other primary functions of the
video materials are to serve as content for the Social Media publications and to be used at
selected events, among others.

only to specialized media and communities, where the technical speech creates interest and
conversation around it.

Now it is the time for showing the world that FIWARE is a reality, that conveys products and that
supports real business to happen. For this reason, dedicated resources within the FIWARE
Press Office are in place.
The main tasks undergoing in the Press Activities field are as follows:
1. Creation of a database of Press contacts to be used when appropriate.
2. Coordination with other Press Initiatives of FIWARE stakeholders (other projects, the EC,
Data Providers, FIWARE Providers) to ensure FIWARE message is not contradictory nor
duplicated.
3. Creation and distribution of Press Material (Press Releases, Press Kits) when
appropriate.
Until December 2014, two big actions took place for Press:
a. The early announcement of the FIWARE Accelerator Programme at Seville, in March
2013, jointly with the opening of the FIWARE Lab node at this city.
b. The official launch of the FIWARE Accelerator Programme at the ECFI-2 in Munich in
September 2014.

Presentation of Linked-USDL and Business Framework (WP3) on the TrustedCloud
standards workshop
o TrustedCloud is an initiative of the German Ministry of Economics to support
secure and safe cloud computing for small and medium enterprises and public
sector. Part of this initiatives are 14 projects tackling various aspects of secure
cloud computing for SME. F SAP (Dr. Torsten Leidig) presented USDL and
FIWARE GE in a keynote at the TrustedCloud Standards Workshop on May 9th,
at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
