Asbestos Removal The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) will soon be undertaking the safe removal of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) from several external areas of the school. This includes the eaves near the main entrance as well as along one side of the junior toilets. The VSBA has engaged an expert occupational hygienist and asbestos removalist to undertake this work. Works are scheduled to commence this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. I can reassure you that we are working closely with the project managers to ensure that all work occurs outside of school hours when there is nobody on the school site. All works, including the removal of ACM, will be undertaken in strict accordance with the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety framework and environmental regulations. The occupational hygienist will undertake air monitoring as part of this process, and they will issue a clearance certificate to indicate that the area is safe to go into after ACM removal. Please be reassured that while every building is currently safe to occupy, these works will ensure the ongoing safety of the school community.

Soccer Girls On Wednesday 30 May we played a make-up game against St Bedes at Hislop Park. Although we were missing our captain, the team played well together and had many attempts at goal. At half time the score was GPS 1 - SBPS 2. Chloe scored our goal. In the second half of the game Chloe scored again and we drew 2 all. It was a great first game and we all enjoyed it. Alicia B 604

Boys Soccer On Wednesday morning the Greythorn Boys played St Bede's. We won 16-0 in a very one sided victory. It was a good team effort and we were happy with our passing. We are looking forward to our next game! By Blake 606 Mixed Tee Ball On the 30

th May the mixed Tee ball team played their first game against St Bedes. It was a very

interesting game with the score being 21 to nill, Greythorn’s way. Both teams played extremely well with great batting and fielding. Levi and Miles were standouts as first base and pitcher and Kaden made a great hit that took the other team by surprise and lead to a home run. With this win under our belt we are feeling confident for the matches to come. Neeraj Silva (Captain) and Angus Lane (Vice Captain) Boys AFL– Footy As St Bede’s battled us out on the damp grass of Greythorn Park on Wednesday morning, we came away victorious with a hundred points (101-1). Both teams started out hungry for the ball but we snuck 5 goals to get us a handy lead on St Bede’s score of 0. The 2

nd quarter was more congested

but we managed to kick another 3 goals. The start of the 3

rd quarter was no different to the 2

nd. Then the game freed up for us due to our

uncontested marks, which led us to another 5 goals. 4

th quarter we were able to keep a strong lead, kicking 3 more goals for St Bede’s 1 point.

Special mentions: Hugo, Rueben, Josh Miller, Matt Day, Kieran and Akio. Also, a special thanks to our coaches Miss Knell, Miss Gibson and the RMIT University Students who umpired the game. By Kade and Tom (The AFL team captains Girls AFL

On Friday we had a great start to winter... it was freezing cold but we warmed up quickly in the first

quarter kicking 5 goals to 0 against Balwyn North. In the second quarter we kicked another 4 goals,

widening our lead. By the end of match we had 11 different goal kickers and scored a total of 80

points to Balwyn Norths 7. As a team we worked hard to ensure everyone had plenty of possessions

to improve their skills.

Special mentions to Sanuli for kicking her first goal, Amelie, Jamie, Sienna and Zara for their running,

kicking and marking that made us unstoppable!

Well done girls!
