On the other side of the coin we welcome three new teaching staff members, Stephanie De Cata, Kate Fitzmaurice and Emma Patterson who join us in 2016, with a range of experience and expertise. We will get to know them more next year Change is coming for all of us as year 6’s move to year 7 and everyone transitions to their new year level. In fact here are a couple of comments from our 2015 preps as part of their transition program. “Today we went to year 1. There was different carpet and there was no bag room. Natalia Today we went to year one. It was different to our classroom and it was interesting. Devdan Today I went to a year 1 classroom. I noticed the bag room wasn’t in a room and the computers were different. Joshua Today we went to a year one classroom. The computers were different to ours. There was no bag room, there was a straight line of bags. Adam” I’m guessing that they will notice a few more changes next year. Congratulations to our year 3 students and staff for the success of their Cultural Day. The kids looked great in their costumes and their performances were well done. The audience was most appreciative. The variety (and quantity) of food was AMAZING. It was wonderful to see how many family members came; thank you so much for supporting the kids. What a fabulous example of our interdependent partnership. We couldn’t do it without you. Another great example of this partnership is the number of volunteers who have supported the kids this year. At our Thank you afternoon tea we had helpers from across the board; helpers in the classroom, on camp, from coffee and chat, from the banking group, and others who had helped in so many different ways. The afternoon tea is really to give us a chance to invite helpers to school without asking them to help in some way for a change. Sincere thanks to those who joined us and to those who have helped but couldn’t make it on the day. If you are interested in helping next year this is the type of service you can expect. Enjoy your week.

CANTEEN PAYMENTS During the year the canteen has kindly provided students with lunch if they have not had anything at school. The canteen has then sent home an invoice for payment. There are many families that are yet to finalise these payments with the canteen. Can you please ensure that you settle any outstanding amounts with the canteen before the end of term.

If you child is in year 1 to 6 in 2016 their bookpack will be available for collection in the school hall. Date Friday 4th December, 2015 Times 8.00am to 10.00am 2.30pm to 6.00pm Our official supplier is an Australian company, Maxim Office Group, bookpacks must be fully paid prior to collection. No payments can be taken in the school hall. When you collect the bookpack/s please let staff know if your child is left handed and requires left handed scissors and we will do a swap. Student reports Please note that student reports will be sent home on Friday the 11

th of December. We provide a printed report to

you as parents and/or guardians about your child’s progress for semester 2. The report is a report to parents and we ask students not to open the envelope themselves. Please check your child’s school bag on this day. Included in the envelope will be details about your child’s class placement next year. These details include your child’s 2016 home group teacher and room number. At times some students are absent on the day reports are distributed. In these circumstances there are a number of options we provide:

The report may be sent home with a sibling who is in attendance on the day. A family member can pick up the report after 3:30pm on that day or on the subsequent school days. The child will be given the report to take home on the next day they attend school. We can post the report to your normal residential address.

If you require your child’s report to be posted because they are not in attendance on December 11, please let your child’s teacher know, otherwise they will be placed in your child’s file until it can be collected. Alison Devereux Assistant Principal and Report Coordinator

This term the JSC students have decided to raise money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. The Royal Flying Doctor Service is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world, providing extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service to people over an area of 7.3 million square kilometres. We thought it would be a great idea to support their mission (to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Australia).

On Tuesday the 1st of December we ask all students to support this great cause by

dressing as ‘what they want to be when they grow up’. Please bring a gold coin donation on this day.

Cultures in our class- room

In 3-20 we have been learning about Cultures in the Classroom. More than 10 different and interesting

cultures brought colour to our splendid 3-20 classroom.

At assembly we shared some of our most interesting facts with the school.

The CBD. On Saturday 21

st November, about 25 members of ‘The CBD’ performed on the Community

Stage at the Pacific Epping Shopping Centre. We were invited to be part of the Christmas spirit up there. We had fun with 12 different instruments and hats in our rendition of ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’. We used wolf and lion masks in another song called ‘Looking out!’ Our footy stars, rock star and movie stars looked pretty fantastic in ‘Stars Really Glitter’. With other fun Aussie Christmas songs and a short play, we were able to entertain the crowds for half an hour. Thank you so much to the parents, siblings and grandparents who came to support us. We so appreciate your efforts!

REGIONAL CRICKET FINALS 2015 "An early-ish start for our keen Grade 5 and 6 cricketers for the bus ride out West to Yarraville to participate in the Milo T20 Blast School Cup, hosted by Milo and The Melbourne Renegades T20 Big Bash Cricket Team. Our Boys got to meet some of the upcoming cricket stars and were even interviewed and may appear on the MCG's scoreboards during the T20 Big Bash season. Teams of both Girls and Boys participated with the competition decided by Grand Final showdowns for the top two finishing teams from each division.

Our boys lived by the PPPS values and participated with great enthusiasm, displaying team effort and playing all of their games in good spirits.

It was hot and thirsty work out there with some express bowling mixed with some accurate and awkward deliveries making it difficult for the opposition. Supported by some sharp fielding the highlight of the day was Thomas' "Hat Trick". Great stuff Thomas!

Our gritty batting, sharp running between the wickets, and peppering of the boundaries made for an enjoyable spectacle for the teachers, parents and teammates alike.

Unfortunately the game draw worked against us to an extent (but that's life!). On count back and averages we missed out on making the Boys' Grand Final.

We certainly enjoyed watching the Grand Final and we could see why those two teams made it. Some very

experienced and serious competitors on show! I guess it is something to work towards and aim for next year. Well done to our boys for giving it a crack and of course to Mr Scanu for his efforts in creating this opportunity for our buddying David Warner's and Mitchell Johnson's."
