NAPLAN

This year’s NAPLAN assessments will be held next term on Tuesday 15th May, Wednesday 16th May and Thursday 17th

May. All students in Years 3, 5 and 7 sit the tests and we use the data to direct our future improvement strategies. While

the tests can be stressful for some students, it is important to reinforce to them that it is really just another day at school

and we want to know what they know.

The teachers and SSOs will support them where they can but please discuss any anxiety you or your child may be feeling

with their teacher.

Interviews

We will hold 3 way interviews in Week 11 and the online booking system is ready for use. We have scheduled one long

day so that working parents can come in. If there are no mes that suit you, you may be able to nego ate another me

with individual teachers that fit in with their commitments.

Have a lovely Easter break!

Hot Cross buns Recipe 4 ½ cups plain flour 2 cups milk 4 teaspoons mixed spice 60g butter 2 teaspoons yeast 2/3 cup sugar 1 cup sultanas (optional) Crosses; 1/2 cup flour & 1/3 cup water. Glaze; 1 tbspn hot water, 1tbspn honey,1/2 tspn mixed spice.

R.E Seminars were held at school on Tuesday. Representatives from the churches, in Laura, came and gave an Easter presentation of what Christians believe about why we observe Easter. The egg symbolises new life we have in Jesus. Hot cross buns were baked with the help of students which were enjoyed at the end of the day.

1. Melt the butter then add to the warmed milk. 2. Combine the dry ingredients and then add the wet ingredients. Stir until the mixture forms a soft ball. Use a little more warm milk if too dry. Knead for 10 minutes. Place back into the bowl and cover placing in a warm space, When it has doubled in size ( approx 1 hour) it is time to turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and cut into portions to form buns. 3. Make the bun portions small as they double in size when baked. Place on greased or oven bake lined pan to rise. I use a deep pan so I can cover with glad wrap when I place in a warm place to rise. Make sure the buns don’t touch the gladwrap. 5. Mix the flour paste and place a line of crosses on the buns. Bake in oven at 180 15-20 mins until buns are golden. Now glaze

with honey mixture. Happy Easter – Helen Wurst
