OUR VALUES

Aim High Be Respectful Be Resilient Be Responsible

The end of the year is fast approaching now, yet there are still many events and jobs to complete before that final day on Thursday the 17th December. Teachers have been busy finalising semester reports this week. Next week is shaping up to be the busiest week of the year! On Monday the week starts with our Annual Volunteers Morning Tea. On Tuesday we have the State Wide Orientation Day as well as the final 2016 Prep Information Session. Teachers will be busy conducting student led conferences on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and our Year 6 students, staff and parents helpers have been busy preparing for the year 6 graduation night to be held next Wednesday night. Just to

name a some of the things that are happening!

Student Led Portfolio Conferences

Thank you to all those parents and family members who have booked in to attend next week’s Student Led Portfolio Conference. The conferences provide an important opportunity for our students to demonstrate what learning has taken place and what goals they have

met over the year.

Students take great pride in their portfolios and have worked hard to prepare them. Thank you also to all the teachers for their work in preparing

for next week’s portfolio conferences.

School Council and P& F

I would like to use today’s newsletter to thank the members of our School Council and Parents and Friends for their support and their contribution to our school over the year. We are very fortunate that we have such committed parents who are willing to give up their time and work for the benefit of our school and our students. The excellent governance of our school and the many improvements in facilities and resources would not be possible without the support of these fantastic volunteers who work hard for

the benefit of all students.

Special thanks to our Executive members of both our organizations and to our School Council President, Kamron Whyte and our P & F President, Sam Davies who have both had a very successful years in their leadership of

these important roles within our school.

2016 School Fees

In the coming days parents can expect to receive paperwork outlining the School Fees for 2016. Parents are able to pay in advance, either at the office or through BPay. We will also attach the indicative 2016 Excursion costs to assist parents with their planning. A reminder to parents who have a valid Health Care Card to please enquire at the front office about accessing an excursion levy that is

provided by the Education Department.

The book box collection date is Friday 22nd January. Fees can be

paid on this date.

Semester reports

We are pleased to advise that the Compass School Management System has been in operation at Korumburra Primary School and we are getting closer to allowing our parent community to login and access the system. We expect that we will advise parents of how to

do this at the beginning of 2016.

Compass provides our school community with a range of facilities that will streamline communication and provide enhanced access to information. It will also improve many of the school’s administration processes. This brings me to this year’s Semester 2 Reports. Parents will notice that this semester’s reports have a different format. Teachers have had their first go at doing their reports using Compass. At a school level we are really happy with the new format and feel that we have made a number of improvements. We are looking forward to hearing if the parents also feel that the new report

format and detail is helpful.

Teachers spend considerable time and effort when compiling and writing these reports and the information included in them should

inform parents and students about the current levels of achievement.

Please be aware that we have a very rigorous editing process where the reports are checked and re-checked to overcome any errors; however it is quite possible that some errors may have slipped through the safety net. If there are such mistakes on your child’s report please let the class teacher know, or alert either Mr Gray or

myself through the office, and we will arrange for a reprint.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for their hard work in compiling and writing these reports. It is a very demanding part of teachers’ duties that takes a lot of time. I would also like to thank Mr Wells for leading us through Compass Professional Development. Thanks also to Dave Gray, Betty Hall, Paul Jones

and Doug Alexander for their support throughout this process.

Please note that the reports will be sent out on Wednesday December 16th
