Dear Parents and Carers, I returned to school on Wednesday after some Long Service Leave at the end of Term 1 and then Bereavement leave for the recent death of my Mother. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Caitriona Toland for leading the school in my absence and the leadership team for supporting her so well. This is the reporting term and teachers will be beginning midyear assessments during the next few weeks so as to be well prepared for report writing on Monday 27 May. I thank them for this important work. We had a very successful Mother’s Day stall last Wednesday at WPS. Thank you to our amazing group of fundraisers and to Lee-anne Underwood who is leading the team. Their efforts are truly appreciated. It was great to see Cayleys Creations with so many gifts to sell as well. The social enterprise is highly successful at providing both creative arts curriculum and work experience. The Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea was well attended at all the campuses and lots of fun. Thanks to the Wellbeing team and the SRC for excellent event organisation. The amazing Café 11 team provided the scones. Nancy Ishak has organised two Parent Bus Tours to post school service providers on the 14th and 21st of May. I encourage parents with students in years 11 and 12 to participate in these and become familiar with the range of options student have at the completion of year 12. These are very important decisions and the more places you are able to visit the better informed you will be to make these decisions. We will be celebrating Education Week in the week commencing 20th May. Education Week 2019 is all about celebrating careers and pathways and this is something we are always thinking about at Warringa Park School. We want our students to have the very best opportunities to be active citizens once they leave our school. It is an opportunity for our school to showcase the work we are doing to support students in their career pathways. This work begins in the early years and then more formal career education as the student progresses through the school. Stay tuned for the events planned in each learning centre and at the campuses. Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mums across the school. I hope Sunday is a relaxing day filled with joyful family time. Marie Hayes, Principal Wellbeing News It has been a busy start to the term and the Wellbeing team have lots happening across the campuses. The SRC students have been working on student voice surveys and will plan a project for the year based on the ideas and opinions they source from their peers. SRC students have also had the opportunity to build their leadership skills by attending the Wyndham Youth Forum. BRC SRC students will attend this forum throughout the year where they will work on a project of their choosing from the issues identified at the Youth Forum. Students will complete the attitudes to school survey during weeks 5 and 6 this term. This is another opportunity to hear from students about their learning, their school and their ideas. The Department has provided adapted student surveys to support as many students as possible to give feedback on their experiences at school. Mother’s Day was celebrated at each of the three campuses on Thursday this week. We were delighted with the turn out and the students really enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate with the significant women in the lives. Thank you to the SRC students who supported this event. We will be hosting a student forum this term where students from our eight partner schools will attend a forum at our Bethany Road Campus. We are really looking forward to this. Dear Parents and Carers,

I returned to school on Wednesday after some Long Service Leave at the end of Term 1 and then Bereavement leave for the recent death of my Mother.

Thanks to the Wellbeing team and the SRC for excellent event organisation. The amazing Café 11 team provided the scones.

Specialist NewsSpecialist programs are running smoothly as we head toward report writing time of the term. In Visual Arts we are continuing our focus on Indigenous Art and Craft in term 2, and students this week have been making 3D pieces using natural materials and clay. In P.E. students are practicing their skills toward Jump Rope For Heart later this term. Over the next fortnight Brian and Athena will be filming individual students for the ‘Focus on Ability’ film festival, sponsored by Nova. We made the final last year! Selected students across Specialist classes will be featured, showing their fantastic skills and abilities and talking about themselves and their experiences at school. The five minute film, which Brian and Athena will edit, will be submitted toward the end of May.
