Principal’s Message
Welcome to all returning and new families.
It is hard to believe that it is fall again already. I hope that everyone has had a
fantastic break and is looking forward to another busy and successful school year.
We have some new staff this year who are excited to be part of the Beaverly
community. While we were sad to see Mrs. Command leave, I am happy to have
Mrs. Gregg helping me in the office! She is a very experienced school secretary
who will be happy to help so please stop in and meet her. We will be working to
get classes settled for the end of this week so classes are ready to be in full swing
next week. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Open House later this
month. We will continue to post newsletters on the website and deliver them via
email. We will also continue to use the Remind text app so please be sure that your
info is up to date so you will receive current information in a timely manner. If you
have any question please feel free to call me at the school or email me at

Emergency Procedure changes;
School District 57 has updated the emergency procedure to align with provincial standard practice effective Sept. 1, 2017. Please review the orange reference card that was sent home today for details of the plan and language. Students will be practicing drills and become familiar with the language from assembly’s and classroom teaching. If you have any questions please contact the office.
NEWSLETTERS – Electronic Version Only Newsletters are a main form of communication between parents and the school. It
is very important that parents make a note of changes in schedule, school closures
and other special dates. Newsletters will be sent to those e-mail addresses that
parents have sent us, and are also posted to the school website. Paper copies are
available in the office and if you do not have access to e-mail, please let the office
know and we will ensure your child(ren) get one.
About our School:
Attendance
If your child will be absent or late, please call the school at
(250) 964-9311. The answering machine is on at all times so you can
always leave a message. This helps the school ensure the safety of
our students. If your child does not arrive at school and we have not
been informed of an absence, there will be a call made to the home
to ensure the child is safe.
If children become sick at school, they are to inform their teacher,
who will inform the office. If it is advisable for the child to be sent
home, the parents (or emergency contact) will be phoned and are
expected to arrange for their child to be picked up promptly.
Parents are asked to keep children home from school until they are
fully recovered from their illness (24-48 hours after last incidence of
fever, vomiting or diarrhea). This prevents the spread of viruses and
other communicable diseases. Students should return when they are
prepared and able to actively participate in all classroom activities
and go outside during breaks. Good health is necessary for effective
learning.
Open House Thursday September 27, 2018
Parents please join us from 5:00 till 6:30 pm at Beaverly Elementary School. Meet your children’s teachers and enjoy a hotdog sponsored by our
Beaverly PAC! Hope to see you there!
Diversified:

REMIND Text App
Thank you to those who have signed up for
the remind app. The feedback we received
regarding this was very positive We will
continue to use this service for the upcoming
school year. Please ensure that your cell
phone number has been updated with the
office if it has changed this past summer and
if you did not use this last year and would like
to join please call the office. New families to
Beaverly will be added once verification forms are returned. This is a great way
to receive important reminders from school and if you have any questions
please call the office.
PAC Hot Lunch/fundraiser orders
Beaverly PAC will begin using an
online ordering system for all hot
lunch and PAC sponsored
fundraisers. If you wish to order
you will need to set up an account.
First hot lunch this year will be Oct
12th so make sure you have your account before you can order.
Medication
The school is only permitted to administer medication to students if
parents and a doctor have filled in a "Request
for Administration of Medication at
School" form. Completed forms are kept at
the office. For students with severe health
concerns, parents, staff and the health nurse
will develop an "Emergency Health Care
Plan". Please see Mrs. Gregg at the office if
your child will require medication at school
and she will give you a form to have filled out by your doctor.
Strong Start Beaverly Strong start runs Tuesdays and Thursday from 9-12. Our first
session will begin on Sept 11, 2018. If you are new to Beaverly Strong
start, registration papers are available at the office. Please bring a birth
