Principal’s Message November 23, 2017 Hi Everyone, Another week has quickly slipped by us. Can you believe we are approaching the end of our third school month? And, Christmas Season if now upon us….YIKES! First on my principal messages, I would like to congratulate the four Jazz Band students: Emma T, Elyssa C, Krista F, and Julia P, along with band instructor Brent Campbell for their fine performance at O & O Café and Design Studio. This was a wonderful opportunity for both the Hartney and Souris Jazz Band students to show their talents in a very relaxed atmosphere. Congratulations and well done! The first student progress report period for this school year is now complete. Please remember that there is no school tomorrow Friday, November 24th as it is an Administration Day. Thank you to all parents who attended Parent Teacher interviews. We had an excellent turnout both days/evenings. The staff certainly appreciates the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your children’s education. If anyone of you were unable to attend and would still like the opportunity to talk with any of the teachers simply contact the office and we will make sure to pass on the message. I would like to remind parents that you can keep up to date on your child’s progress by going to the student portal, a link which can be found on our school webpage. The username and password was distributed in the registration envelope at the beginning of the school year. If you need your child’s portal info/ parent portal information, please contact the school for assistance. Hartney School will be hosting their sixth annual Variety Concert Evening on Thursday Dec, 7th. As stated in the last newsletter, we are going to forgo the supper but hope that does not sway families from still coming out to an evening of community entertainment, Reindeer Auction item draws, laughter and fun. For more information about the evening, please look further into the newsletter. Another reminder that cold and flu season is now upon us, parents are reminded to contact the school, (and their bus driver) if your child is home sick or will not be attending school on a particular day. Children are also reminded that we have a two-shoe policy in our school. Please be sure to wear shoes at all times as we are doing monthly fire drills and I do not want to have students running out in the cold in their stocking feet. Slippers are another option if you do not want to wear your gym runners but please have footwear on at all times. I hope everyone has an enjoyable long weekend!

We Need Your Help WE ARE ASKING THE PUBLIC FOR HELP! We need entertainment. Anyone who would like to enter the show is asked to phone the school and talk to Kim McBrien. We are looking for adults or children, singers, dancers, actors, jugglers, whatever your talent. We only ask that it be under 10 minutes in length and “family friendly” entertainment. TO BE CLEAR: the school is not supplying the talent – we are relying on the public for that. And we know we won’t be disappointed! This is a fundraiser for Hartney School and Also – If anyone would like to donate an item to our “Reindeer Raffle” please call the school. Thanks!
