Essential criteria:theory in action: this is a practical version of “the solution is within the problem” principle! For ages I wondered about how to show students on the course (especially gardeners!) that they were not doing landscaping design, or organic gardening… that the course was about the meeting of the three ethics of Peoplecare, Fairshare and Earthcare. It’s also an example of how I find myself seeing everything (maybe a bit of an exaggeration!) through PC eyes, that when I watched this programme I found myself shouting out the principles being described.. so a learning activity evolved... it can be as interactive as you wish!

design practice: using SADI to retrofit this idea, I found, of course, I had done it in practice so it wasn’t really ‘cheating’… intuition and putting previous experience to work , my own pattern language for the way I plan and teach

earth

fairshare people

Complimentary criteria:Dissemination and Symmetry: are embodied within the design and now in the educational resources for BPT’s design course, as well as, presumably, in the wider network, following my use of it at the Convergence 21.Community building: some members of my community will be permaculture teachers coming to it from a place of enthusiasm rather than a professional background or developed skill who might appreciate guidance in creating interactive and imaginative learning activities, Evaluation & costs: I’ve presented the project using resources which depend on finance, accessibility and skill to be used. However, the programme was taped using VHS, the worksheets are paper, and both are commonly used in a Pc session. Copyright issues remain & permission might need to be got from BBC should its use become widespread. PcA could be asked to take this up, to get an educational licence for affiliated/endorsed teaching groups to record off-air for educational purposes.
