Get your child to read the following sentence word by word. Now try saying the sentence a few times till you know it. Cover it over and then write it down.

The evil Claw saw a jigsaw playing on the seesaw.

If you can, you could now let your child access and play on phonicsplay.co.uk. Perhaps a game of Ob or Bob, or Buried Treasure. Learning clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xvdbR6g060

EnglishEaster is coming!

Each day this week we will think about a different sense. Today we will look at the sense of smell. Get your thinking caps on, what might you smell at Easter? I’ve put some ideas here to help you, but I’m sure you will have your own. Maybe you have some around the house that you could smell and then describe. I find it helps to close my eyes when I’m focussing on a smell. Can you draw some of your favourite smells and around them write as many adjectives to describe the smell as you can think of.

Keep up your amazing handwriting and don’t forget to have a look at our new web pages: https://www.bishopchavasseschool.org.uk/handwriting/ . Make sure all your lovely home learning is using you best handwriting.

MathsAt Bishop Chavasse we follow the White Rose maths scheme. White Rose are uploading daily activities for each year group. Here is a link, please now go to lesson 8: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/ Keep and eye on the website for ideas from Miss Webb of how to support this maths learning in practical ways. Also, don’t forget to keep up the Big Maths practice. The sheets can be downloaded here: http://www.mathematicshed.com/uploads/1/2/5/7/12572836/bmbt_learn_its_tests.pdf You can even have the music for them while they work! (this one is only 20 seconds, so you need to pause for 10 seconds mid way) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTdXJOYIGU0 If you’re looking for a fun game, this game is great for building up number bonds to 10 speed: https://www.mathplayground.com/number_bonds_10.html (there is also a number bonds to 20 version).

Topic activitiesThe following activities should take a few days to complete:

1. Art: Easter egg sun catchershttps://kidscraftroom.com/easter-egg-suncatcher-craft-with-tissue-paper/

See if you can make an Easter Egg sun catcher. You might not have coloured tissue paper at home, but maybe you can make use of some of the brighter coloured recycling! Equally, we don’t think you really need the ‘contact paper’ either. Just cut out the colourful strips, stick them together and then cut them to be a colourful egg shape. The more pieces of colourful paper you can find the better.

2. MathsMaking magic!Have a look around your house for any bottles/containers that you could use to make magic potions. On the right you will see an Invisibility Potion. What potion will you make? Which container do you think will have the largest/smallest capacity? Were you right?

3. DT making. Using only paper (ideally recycled) and a little tape if you need, Make a tower. The challenge is to make a tower taller than anyone else. Take a photo of your tower and let us know how tall your tower was! We will publish the tallest tower winner on the website on Thursday 2nd April. Good luck!

4. Paper Games:

Page 8: primarysite-prod-sorted.s3.amazonaws.com  · Web viewPhonicsPlease practise saying the sound and reading and writing the real and alien words. Ask your child to add the sound buttons

See if you can learn a new paper game. These games are useful to know anywhere. Here are some ideas: https://papergames.io/en

5. Research:Why do we have Easter eggs and the Easter bunny? See what you can find out and make a poster/leaflet to show your findings.

6. Lego – What amazing invention can you make out of Lego?

We would absolutely love to receive photographs of anything that you are doing at home. Please email us:[email protected]@bishopchavasseschool.org.uk

Don’t forget to check the daily challenges and videos on the Remote Learning page!
