We have included a selection of work for your child to complete whilst the school is closed. Please support your child in completing it.

Complete the online test 3 times a day. Check your answers at the end to see which times tables you do not know properly and practise your fast recall of them. THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR YEAR 4 CHILDREN WHO HAVE THEIR TIMES TABLES TEST IN JUNE.

Attached are some sheets based on our recent work on fractions. Remember with equivalent fractions that whatever you do to the top, you do the same to the bottom. Should you complete these and wish to complete further work, then there are resources online linked to converting improper fractions to mixed fractions and simplifying fractions.

There are also some sheets based on the written methods of addition, along with some word problems.

Literacy activities:

Enclosed are some SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) activities for you to complete. There are also reading comprehension activities.

Below is a selection of writing activities. We do not expect you to complete all the writing activities. Choose two, suited to what you find interesting. These are extended pieces of writing, where we want to you write in detail, considering your language, punctuation and paragraphing.

If you had one superpower, what would it be? Explain why you have chosen that superpower, what you would do with it, and how it would change your life.

Write a story about this picture and give your story a name.

One day, you find this door at the corner of your room. What do you do? Who uses that door? Where does the door take you?

Topic Work:

You do not have to complete all of the activities below.

Make a wearable digestive system. Use a marker pen on a white t shirt to represent the human digestive system. You may use textile paints, stitching or coloured markers to make them look realistic. You could even make it 3D. You may even chose to create this in cardboard, if you prefer.

Learn about good hygiene habits. This could involve different times during the day when we should wash our hands, clean our teeth or have a bath. Create a poster of golden rules for the class to follow. This may be on paper or on the computer.

Investigate whether beans do make you ‘windy’. Make up two identical bowls of food, add a cup of water and mix. Now add a tin of beans to one of the bowls and cover the bowls with cling film. Create a tight seal and leave the bowls somewhere warm for a couple of days. Observe what happens. During your investigation writing a prediction, set of instructions (using imperative verbs and adverbs) and write what happened in your investigation.
