Adam is a general paediatrician who has worked as a part time staff specialist at Gosford District Hospital and in rooms for 20 years. He has an interest in research. His PhD led to policy and practice change on the use of CPAP in Special Care Nurseries in Australia. His main interest has been to improve the quality of care for infants born in non-tertiary centres through research, education and collaboration between paediatricians and neonatologists.

Dr Vicki BurneikisVicki Burneikis has been a general paediatrician at Wyong Hospital for almost 12 years. She enjoys seeing children and young people of all ages, even adolescents, with a wide range of concerns. She is an instructor for APLS and resus 4 kids, currently chairs the paediatric education subcommittee, and finds teaching at a range of levels, both inside and outside her paid work, particularly rewarding. She also enjoys bodyboarding, spending time with her family and reading, but has taken time away from the beach to be here today.

Dr Damon ShorterDamon first discovered the Central Coast as an intern in 2003 and returned as a consultant paediatrician to Gosford Hospital in 2011 after training through the Children's Hospital at Westmead. He has private rooms at East Gosford that he shares with his haematologist wife Alison Lyons, with whom he also shares 2 primary school aged kids. He has a special interest in acute paediatrics and education, has been teaching APLS for 9 years, and coordinates the paediatric physician examination at Gosford each year for the RACP. He is delighted to have been invited to speak at this conference on another of his key interests, the Gut Microbiome.

Associate Professor Glenn ReevesGlenn is a specialist in immunology, allergy and immunopathology at John Hunter Hospital, NSW

Health Pathology North, and Coastal Immunology. He works in clinical and laboratory settings, and major interests include autoimmune conditions, both systemic (lupus, scleroderma, Sjogrens etc) and organ-specific (coeliac, urticaria, endocrinopathy). His everyday immunology practice also encompasses the management of patients with allergies and immune deficiencies.

Dr Stewart BirtStewart is a general paediatrician who recently commenced working at Gosford Hospital and in local consulting rooms. His professional interests include general paediatrics, paediatric endocrinology and acute paediatrics.

He is a passionate about medical education and appreciates Rugby Union and good red wine.

Dr Simon WalkerSimon is one of the many British Emergency Physicians working on the Central Coast. He is dual-trained in PEM, having spent several years working in the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. His interests within Medicine include teaching; challenging dogma; decision making and the judicious use of testing. He has 2 young daughters and has therefore seen ‘Frozen 2’ twice.

Naomi FentonNaomi is a Registered Nurse and endorsed Nurse Practitioner (Respiratory and Allergy nursing). She has lived and worked on the Central Coast for more than 25 years and understands the health related challenges faced by residents and Health Professionals on the coast. Naomi values the importance of good communication, education and a collaborative approach in regards to patient / client care.
