In our group we constructed a questionnaire in order to find our desired target audience and most popular genre. We gave our questionnaire to our fellow Music and Media Studies students for them to answer truthfully.

These two questions were used to get a general understanding of our social grouping in who was answering the questions so we could see if their was any difference in answers depending on age and gender.

The next five questions we included were to give us an idea of a genre which is popular with our target audience when we make our magazine, how to attract that target audience and what should be done to ensure it includes everything they want the magazine to be.

We used two open questions to gain a wider knowledge of what our target audience overall in their preferred music magazine.

By creating primary data and making a questionnaire which we gave out to our target audience we was able to gather information that was then converted into graphs to allow us to see what was necessary when we create our music magazine. We was able to establish that our magazine would:

• Cover entertainment and features more than any other parts of the issue as the majority of people who filled the questionnaire out stated that was what they liked to see in a magazine.

• As many people stated they listened to music through an MP3 player we will be encouraging music to be bought through these and how much easier it is. As we used an open question to see what genres of music where most popular we will be encouraging readers to buy R’n’B and Indie music.
