Cycle The Guild Wheel 13 is a 21 mile circular route which links to the national cycle network. The route takes you

BusBuses run to all parts of Preston and the region. Preston Bus operate all local routes. Stagecoach and Lancashire County Council operate services to neighbouring villages, towns and cities.
For connections to cities further a field, National Express and Megabus operate from the bus station (F2).
TaxisTaxi ranks for Black cabs are located at the train station (D4), Church street (F3) and bus station (F2). Other city centre taxis firms are available to pre-book.
TrainPreston station (D4) is a major hub for national and local services with direct trains to London (2hrs) and Glasgow (2.5hrs), Manchester, Liverpool, Blackpool, the Lake District and Manchester and Blackpool airports.

building was constructed in 1899, modelled on the larger Burlington Arcade in London. It was Prestons first indoor shopping centre which also housed Turkish Baths from 1901 until 1947. Now a Grade II listed building it is home to a number of shops,
bars and eateries and is worth a visit both inside and out.
Winckley Square 6 (E4)One of the finest examples of a Georgian Square in the north of England with open gardens, a perfect place to enjoy a spot of lunch or coffee. Home to some fantastic Georgian architecture this is Prestons professional quarter.
salons, boutiques, vintage and gift shops. Friargate (D2, E3) on route to the University of Central Lancashire 3 also boasts a number of independent shops.
Markets 4 (E2)Prestons markets offerquality fresh local produce including meat, fish, vegetables and dairy products. Upstairs is a treasure trove of goods from make up and clothing to hair extensions, pet supplies and household hardware.
Miller Arcade 5 (F3)An architectural gem in the centre of Preston, the
Head to the square via the lovely cobbled Winckley street 1 (E3), where you can pick up a bite to eat on route.
Civic QuarterHome to the fantastic Harris Museum & Art Gallery 7 (F3), a Grade I
listed building, Guild Hall & Charter Theatre 8 (F3) and Flag Market (E3). The Flag Market plays host to a variety of free events 14 throughout the year including the summer and winter programmes.
Visit.... the glorious Grade II* listed Victorian Avenham and Miller Parks (E5, D6), just a 5 minute walk from
Fishergate. Designed by the renowned landscape architect, Edward Milner during the 1860s,Avenham Park9 is createdfrom a natural amphitheatre and contains Avenham Walk, the Belvedere, Swiss Chalet, Boer War Memorial and a
Japanese Garden. Miller Park10 contains Derby Walk, an Italianate Terrace and a lovely fountain together with the Derby Memorial Statue. Avenham Pavilion (E6) provides a lunchtime menu including tea, coffee and ice cream.
See....the view across Preston from the Grade I listed St Walburges Church12(B1),
the 2nd highest spire in the UK. The church is open on Saturdays 10.30 - 2pm for public viewing.
Watch....boats at Riversway, Prestons dock and marina 11, and have a walk around, taking
in the history. Make sure youstop for a coffee on route at the caf. You will also find the Ribble Steam Railway and Museum near the north side of the dock.
Stay....in one of the many hotels. With something to suit all tastes and budgets, the Visitor Information Centre (F3) will be happy to book a room for you.
Eat.... and enjoy a meal at the restaurants and pubs located down the quaint side streetsoff Fishergate and Winckley Square. Spend your lunchtime in the cafes located around the city centre and sample a
selection of international menus on offer.Preston city centre is the only place in Lancashire to hold the Purple Flag accreditation, awarded for a safe and vibrant night out.
ShopHead to the main shopping street Fishergate (E3) or St.Georges Shopping Centre 2 (E3) and Fishergate Centre (D4) to indulge in those well known high street names or meander down some of the quaint streets off Fishergate (E3) such as Cannon street (E3), Guild Hall street (E3) and Lune street (D3) for independent cafes, jewellers, beauty
