A reallybeautifulwarm,ifnothot,springwithashortcoldishblastintoJulythenanotherheatwave.ThenAugustdecidedtochangeitall.PostponetheBBQs.OfcoursethisispublishedbeforetheautumnkicksinandIalwayslookforwardtoSeptember.Thereissomethingwarmandcalmingatthestartoftheharvest.Thefruitsofthelaboursarerewarding.Anabundanceofapplesandpears,lateraspberriesandblackberries.Our localFarmergathering inthewheatwhichweputonourbreakfasttable.That’sifyoubuythelocalproductofcoursefromournewstorenotsofaruptheroad.WhoopsamIpluggingsomething?AndwhynotIhearyoucry,weshouldbesupportinglocalproduce.Infactthereareeggsinabundanceonourdoorstepsbothendsofourvillage.Canalwidthofcourse.Howmanyofushavetakenthelovelywalkalongthecanal.Eitherwayisenchantingbutifyouwalk south, as the crow flies, there is that old fashioned rural loveliness before thetunnel.FreeBookswouldyoubelieve,fresheggstobuyandadoggypoostation.KeepingthecanalpathcleanwithgratefulthankstoourvolunteerFinally remember our Annual Hatton Show is on Saturday 14th September in the fieldopposite our Church, All Saints Daresbury. • 12oztrimmedgreenbeans,cutto2to3inchlongpieces
• Salt• Smallfinelychoppedredonion• 1tablespoonsbalsamicvinegar2tablespoonsextra
virginoliveoil• Goodhandfulchoppedfreshbasilleaves• 3/4ozfreshlygratedParmesancheese• Freshlygroundblackpepper
METHOD
1. Soakchoppedonionsinwater:Placethechoppedonionsinasmallbowlofwater.Thiswillhelptaketheedgeofftheonions.Letsitwhileyoupreparetherestofthesalad.
2. Blanchthegreenbeans:Bringalargepotofsaltedwatertoaboil.Addthegreenbeanstothewaterandblanchonlyforabout2minutesorso,untilthebeansarejustbarelycookedthrough,butstillcrisp.Freshyoungbeansshouldcookquickly.Older,tougherbeansmaytakelonger.
3. Shockinicewater:Whilethebeansarecooking,preparealargebowloficewater.Whenthebeansareready,useaslottedspoontoremovethemfromtheboilingwatertotheicewatertostopthecooking.Drainthegreenbeansandtheredonions.
4. Tosswithredonion,balsamic,Parmesan:Placethegreenbeans,redonion,andchoppedbasilinalargebowl.Sprinkleintheoliveoil,tosstocoat.SprinkleinthebalsamicandParmesancheese.Tosstocombine.Seasontotastewithsaltandfreshlygroundblackpepper.

ProposedboundarychangestoPrestonBrookAsreportedinourlastnewsletter,theindependentLocalGovernmentBoundaryCommissionforEnglandisaskinglocalpeoplefortheirhelptodrawupanewpatternofcouncilwardsforHaltonBoroughCouncil.ThefirstdraftofthiswaspresentedtotheparishcouncilinJune2018,principallythisseenPrestonBrookretainingitscorelinkwithDaresburyasaward–thecouncilwerehappywiththisanddidn’tsubmitanycomments.However,itsseconddraftreleasedinDecemberissomewhatdifferent–itproposedtheremovalofPrestonBrookfromDaresburyandsitsitwithBrookVale.Theydidconcludeanameintheend
