As you know the gasket is situated between the manifold body (vb) and ditch plate (lower vb).There have been numerous design changes in the (vb) since 2003 many in attempt to adress the issue of gasket failure. The area in question (see photos below) see damage from line pressurecontrolled by the main regulator and P.C.A solenoid, both of these components see a high failure.The following assist in assembly of vb.
1. Ditch plate (bootom plate) must be checked for warpage.2. Alignment dowels must be clean (in bottom plate) and gasketshould fit smoothly on them.3. Two halve of vb should be loosely assembled prior to install on unit.4. VB must be installed on case using alignment pins Ford #307-456.

THE 2003-2004 MODEL YEARS HAD AHEX HEAD FORWARD CLUTCH FEED BOLTWITH AN ORIFICE PLATE ON TOP OF IT. THE 2005 MODEL YEARS USE A TORXHEAD FEED BOLT WITH NO ORIFICE.
