TARGET SUNDAYS AT CAAM JOINS CICLAVIA FOR ANNUAL KWANZAA CELEBRATION CO-HOSTED BY JEFFERY ANDERSON-GUNTER AND D’LAI

Los Angeles (December 1, 2014) The California African American Museum (CAAM) presents Target Sundays at CAAM – Annual Kwanzaa Celebration, December 7, 2014 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. This year the event will be held on King Boulevard in partnership with CicLAvia. CicLAvia is a neighborhood event that closes streets to cars allowing people to walk, skate, or bike along the route. CicLAvia origins stem from the South American Ciclovía in Bogotá, Columbia where each week 75 miles of road are closed to revelers. Four years ago CicLAvia debuted in Los Angeles creating positive social change by encouraging people to take pride in their local communities and lead healthier lifestyles. There will be activities along the route providing a fun, safe way to enjoy the community and holiday season.

Acclaimed actor and director, Jeffery Anderson-Gunter along side stand up comedian D’Lai will serve as co-hosts of the Annual Kwanzaa Celebration. The event will include the Holiday Marketplace of Target Sunday vendors, dance, spoken word, and live music including the house band The Composers. In addition to holiday festivities there will be a special tribute to the fallen military heroes in the attack on Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941.

Jeffery Anderson-Gunter is known for his roles on films such as “Don’t Be A Menace…”, “Marked For Death”, “Predator 2”, and many others. Gunter recently completed filming for the new movie musical “Revival” also staring Chaka Khan as well as a performance of “Black Star of the Great White Way” at New York’s world-renowned Carnegie Hall. Currently, Gunter is touring “Speak of Me as I Am” the Paul Robeson story nationally.

D’LAI is a rising star in stand up comedy. A Louisiana native, he is best known for being a finalist on TV One’s “Who’s Got Jokes?” Season 4. D’LAI has opened for comedy heavy weight George Wallace and the legendary Dick Gregory. Currently, he is working on various projects while touring nationally on “Bill Bellamy’s Ladies Night Out Tour” as well as promoting the comedy special/docu-film “Bill Bellamy’s Ladies Night Out Comedy Tour,” which premiered last year on Showtime Networks. D’LAI’s passion for comedy and success stems from tragic experiences. After the loss of his mother as an infant, and his grandmother at 12 years old, D’LAI used comedy as a coping mechanism to help him overcome his circumstances. Today D’LAI is an example of perservering though adversity with positivity. CAAM’s Annual Kwanzaa Celebration as part of the CicLavia neighborhood gathering is sure to be an event the entire family will enjoy.

CAAM is located at 600 State Drive in Exposition Park, Los Angeles, CA 90037. This event is free and open to the public. Parking is located at 39th & Figueroa for $10 per vehicle.
