FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 4TH OF DECEMBER 2014 MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA

SETTING SAIL FOR THE AMERICAS!

MAISON&OBJET PARIS plays host to more than 6,000 exhibitors at its biannual Paris event, drawing more than 160,000 trade visitors and 6,000 journalists from around the world to the Parc des Expositions – Paris Nord Villepinte, as it has for nearly 20 years. This trade show, unmatched anywhere in the world, spans nine exhibition halls and more than 260,000 m2 (2,800,00 sq. ft.) net annually, cementing its position as the premiere global showcase for home design and décor. Each year the show has attracted an ever-increasing number of overseas export specialists, and to forge closer ties with these professionals and enable exhibitors to build new and further reaching bridges for growth, SAFI*, the organizer of MAISON&OBJET PARIS, has announced two new tradeshows: MAISON&OBJET ASIA (10-13 March 2014 in Singapore) and MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS (12-15 May 2015 in Miami Beach). Strategically placed geographically to capture the sizable and yet untapped markets of Asia and North and South Americas, the benefits will extend beyond the broadened market, enabling exhibitors to extend their reach into very economically dynamic regions while local and regional designers and manufacturers will have the unique opportunity to present their product to the world via this very well-established international platform. Today, the MAISON&OBJET community offers four opportunities for events throughout the year and around the world.

SOLID FOUNDATIONS FOR INTELLIGENT

INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION

The international expansion of MAISON&OBJET PARIS is part of a long-term global strategy. The event has a solid foundation, true savoir-faire, a superb reputation and a focus and features that meet clearly identified needs.

A STELLAR INTERNATIONAL REPUTATION Nearly half of all MAISON&OBJET PARIS exhibitors and visitors are international, as are two-thirds of the journalists assigned to cover this show exclusively. In some sectors, the proportion of foreign exhibitors can reach 70%. Similarly, sales transactions at the event are primarily for export.

The numbers speak for themselves. Since its inception nearly two decades ago, MAISON&OBJET PARIS has become increasingly international, paralleling the evolution of its content: initially focused on retail markets, it is now decidedly prescriber-market oriented. For the past five years, this change has been even more pronounced, underscoring overseas export exhibitors and buyers. For example, MAISON&OBJET PARIS is the design and décor show with the largest Japanese-exhibitor community in Europe. As far as buyers go, 30% of the show’s international visitors now represent overseas export. As an international business platform with Parisian roots, MAISON&OBJET PARIS has become a globally recognized brand with an exclusive identity well known to buyers, specifiers and exhibitors from around the world.

A SELECTIVE BUYER DATABASE In both Singapore and Miami Beach, MAISON&OBJET is forging into known territory: these two cities are the epicentre of markets in which MAISON&OBJET has a selective database of qualified buyers, each already a MAISON&OBJET PARIS visitor. The advent of MAISON&OBJET ASIA and MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS means the brand is now in their home territory, further strengthening direct communication with them.

A FAVORABLE COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT The MAISON&OBJET experience in Singapore and Miami Beach will be unprecedented. Though it unfolds in synergy with local events, its exclusive dimension is simply unparalleled.

LOGISTICAL SUPPORT FROM REED INTERNATIONAL GROUP SAFI, which organizes the MAISON&OBJET PARIS, MAISON&OBJET ASIA and MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS shows, receives logistical support from Reed Exhibitions (its shareholder with Ateliers d’Arts de France), the world’s leading event organizer (over 500 shows in 45 countries). This local support ensures optimal organizational conditions.

SUPPORTING DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL VISITATION AND THE MAISON&OBJET COMMUNITY With the advent of MAISON&OBJET ASIA and MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS, MAISON&OBJET takes the initiative to encounter a professional community of overseas exporters that is already well established and ceaselessly expanding.

This community, now locally assembled around a premium exhibition, has easier access to a selection of products and services intended for them alone, offered by companies well versed in export. A superb channel for maintaining close contact with the entire MAISON&OBJET network, but also as a first step toward the Paris show.

OPENING THE DOOR TO NEW MARKETS FOR MAISON&OBJET EXHIBITORS These two events are a way for MAISON&OBJET to support its most export-oriented exhibitors in generating promising business opportunities with retailers, as well as with a broad spectrum of interior designers. The show’s long history provides the reassurance of known interlocutors and clear organisation, paired with proven, high-impact, networking-focused services.

IDENTIFYING AND ASSEMBLING EMERGING ACTORS IN DESIGN AND DÉCOR FROM AROUND

THE WORLD.

For its premiere, MAISON&OBJET ASIA received 30% off regional exhibitors; half of these had never exhibited in Paris, some not even in their own countries. This treasure trove of local and international discoveries to be made is reminiscent of the unifying standard borne by MAISON&OBJET PARIS in its infancy. Today, MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS has set itself the same goal, with already 20% of local exhibitors. The show is unearthing an ever-increasing number of designers to whom MAISON&OBJET offers a rewarding promotional environment, dovetailing newcomers with established European brands.

A TEAM WITH LOCAL SUPPORT To actively promote the show in North, Central and South America, our teams have added local support, welcoming in particular Teresa Laughlin, responsible for press relations, based in New York City; Bob Goodman, our liaison in Miami Beach, in charge of partnerships and public relations; in addition to our agents and liaisons in Mexico, Canada/USA, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, etc.

NETWORKING COCKTAIL TOUR IN PREPARATION

Providing opportunities to meet journalists, specifiers, department stores, manufacturers, and influential market players to promote the show, these events were an opportunity to host networking evenings in the best locations of the cities chosen. The MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS road show was held in the fall of 2014. Where? Mexico City (October 18), São Paulo (November 5), Rio de Janeiro (November 8), and Miami (December 4). We will keep you informed as to the upcoming dates and locations in the issues of ‘Bonjour’.

KEY DATES AND GLOBAL CROSSROADS

Singapore and Miami Beach share the characteristics of being border towns, each with a draw and influence extending far beyond their city limits into very economically dynamic regions. A stronghold of luxury and contemporary culture centrally situated in the ASEAN region, Singapore is the city of choice for key players in the upscale hospitality world and is the region’s premium trade-show capital. Its domestic market, like those of its neighbours, is experiencing dramatic expansion driven by a mature home-fashion culture and an exponential increase in home ownership. MAISON&OBJET ASIA, a show that is simply peerless in this region, is an avidly awaited event. Justly dubbed “the Gateway to the Americas”, Miami Beach has twofold American influences. It is the destination of choice for South America’s wealthy and pulses with the rhythm of all the Latin American capitals. The triumph of the Art Basel contemporary art fair demonstrates that the city is caressed by favourable trade winds, the same ones that will ensure the success of MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS. Not only were the locations carefully selected, but the dates chosen for MAISON&OBJET ASIA and MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS position the shows within strategic periods. In Asia, March is the month of the major sourcing shows and MAISON&OBJET ASIA provides a top-quality, complementary offer. The month of May is similarly well chosen, for MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS falls within the North American calendar of home design events without competing with other international fairs.

TWO NEW SHOWS – ONE INIMITABLE FORMAT

A year ago, MAISON&OBJET ASIA dramatically exceeded expectations, presenting 265 brands across 6,000m2 (almost 65,000 sq. ft.), with 30% of exhibitors considered local. Now, MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS, to be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, is on the same track. Limited in the first year to 250 exhibitors, the show sold out almost immediately, and already has a waiting list large enough for another full show. With decidedly upscale positioning, it is a format that facilitates flexibility, responsiveness and the pilot development of new services. To give select members of the public the chance to experience this event, there will be an Opening Party and specialised ‘summits’ to promote face-to-face connections and ensure effective networking. The scenography and activities will be courtesy of local talents: in the medium term, this provides a platform to showcase their individual identities at each event and pique the interest of the global MAISON&OBJET community four times a year. The fair will be focused on two sectors, Interior Design and Home Decoration. Interior design will gather the important names in decoration and design, offering a curated range of products to suit all development and contract projects. Home Decoration will focus on offering an equally curated selection of trendsetting decorative furniture, lighting and decorative accessories.

DESIGNER OF THE YEAR MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS will present Zanini de Zanine as the first Designer of the Year at an event at the New World Center on May 13th. He was selected from among a strong field of top designers who have had an impact in their chosen field of design, and will be delivering a keynote address at the fair.

RISING TALENTS Six emerging talents from the North American and Latin American region will be selected to showcase their products at the four day fair. Proudly representing their countries, one each will be selected from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Canada and two from the U.S. The designers will be nominated in the fields of fragrance design, object & product design, furniture design, graphic design, wallpaper and textile design, lighting design, fashion accessory and jewelry design, as well as home decoration. The winners will be announced in January 2015 during the Paris fair, and introduced at the New World Center Event on May 13th, along with the Designer of the Year.

INTERIOR DESIGN & LIFESTYLE SUMMIT

MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS will present its first Interior Design a Lifestyle Summit which will consist of a series of conferences that will give the opportunity to visitors to decrypt key market trends and discover the ongoing most prestigious architectural projects. From 30 to 45 minutes per session, the program will propose twenty conferences divided into five main topics held throughout the duration of the show.

A NETWORK OF LOCAL PARTNERS A number of partnerships with local design brands will be signed to accompany MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS. Three preeminent partners have already decided to take part in the event. DERING HALL

For the upcoming edition of September 2014, MAISON&OBJET is proud to announce its collaboration with DERING HALL, an online marketplace for the finest interior designers, architects, artisans, and design galleries to showcase their work and sell new, high-end home furnishings and accessories. DESIGN DISTRICT

The Miami Design District is the home to the top design companies in the world and is reputed as the premier cultural hub. The partnership of Miami Design District and MAISON&OBJET is unmatched. To reinforce the strong desire of both MAISON&OBJET and Miami Design District to involve the local community, a series of programming will be curated by the design showrooms during the week of the fair, in the newly constructed Paseo Ponti, a pedestrian walk-way located in the heart of the Miami Design District.

OCEAN DRIVE

Niche Media, the country’s preeminent regional lifestyle publishing company, has entered into a publishing partnership with MAISON&OBJET that includes the production of a custom publication to celebrate MAISON&OBJET AMERICAS, May 12-15, 2015.
