Press release „the Golden Mask“:

The Golden Mask Performing Arts Festival is happy to inform that the production “Outside the Door”, directed by Luk Perceval, has been recognized a Golden Mask winner in the nomination “The Best Foreign Production Presented in Russia in 2013”.

The Golden Mask is the National Theatre Award given annually in all genres of theatre art: drama, opera, ballet, operetta, musical and puppet theatre. The Golden Mask is awarded in over 30 nominations (for best production, best acting, directing, conducting, choreography, set design etc.). The Nominees are announced in December, and the nominated productions are invited to the Golden Mask Festival that opens annually in the end of March in Moscow. Decisions about winners in majority of the nominations are made by two Juries during the two week’s Festival. The culmination of the Festival of the Award Ceremony, which takes place in one of Moscow’s most famous venues and is broadcast by the national television channel.

A few Golden Mask winners are announced prior to the Festival. These are the special awards for “Lifetime Achievement’, “Support of Russian Theatre” and “The Best Foreign Production Presented in Russia”.

A Golden Mask in the nomination “The Best Foreign Production” is awarded annually since 1998 to a production presented in Russia in the previous year. The decision is based on our opinion poll among theatre critics and theatre journalists. In previous years winners in this nomination have been Giorgio Strehler, Josef Nadj, Eimuntas Necrosius, Pina Bausch, Michael Thalheimer, Alvis Hermanis, Tamas Ascher, Robert Lepage, Viktor Bodo and Krzysztof Warlikowski.
