PRESS RELEASE
ExxonMobil PNG invests in emerging Papua New Guinean leaders
Operator of the PNG LNG Project, ExxonMobil PNG Limited, has contributed K282,000 to The Voice Inc. in support of The Leadership Development Program. ExxonMobil PNG has been supporting The Voice Inc since 2014.
The Voice Inc. is a non-‐government organisation that provides leadership programs for students to complement their formal education. The organisation has been operating since 2007 at the University of Papua New Guinea, and in 2014 established new offices at the PNG University of Technology in Lae and the University of Goroka.
The Leadership Development Program is a 3-‐level leadership pathway program that helps to strengthen a more consistent approach to building the leadership capacity of young people by influencing their values, attitudes and ethics. The program guides young people onto a process of self-‐discovery, equips them with the tools to become active citizens and then provides a platform for them to develop and connect their personal vision to the national vision.
The Voice Inc. currently has 200 young people undergoing the Leadership Development Program across its partner intuitions. ExxonMobil PNG is a major supporter of The Voice Inc. and has been instrumental in the setup of its Centres for Leadership. This partnership has had an emphasis on mentoring and building the leadership capacity of young Papua New Guineans.
ExxonMobil PNG is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity in all of its operations and is proud to be associated with The Voice Inc. and its activities.
“ExxonMobil PNG’s contribution to The Voice Inc. is part of investing in the development of our Papua New Guinea youth to build future leaders in the country,” said ExxonMobil PNG’s Managing Director Andrew Barry.
“ExxonMobil PNG is pleased to contribute to the efforts that give students opportunities to develop leadership skills, and acquire mentoring support that inspires them to contribute positively to their communities,” said Mr Barry.
Barbra Thomas, Executive Director of The Voice Inc. thanked ExxonMobil PNG for their continued support, “We are extremely grateful for ExxonMobil PNG’s confidence and continuous support of our work over the past three years and are excited to continue our partnership with a company that is truly committed to developing PNG’s next generation of leaders.”
