ebm-papst A&NZ proudly sponsoring 18-year-old elite cyclist Holly White

ebm-papst A&NZ have recently taken up sponsorship of up-and-coming New Zealand track cyclist Holly White. The decision to support Holly was an easy one, with the 18-year-old being Sharon Clay’s niece, who is the ebm-papst New Zealand Sales Manager.

Holly is the current Junior World Champion and World Record holder in Team Pursuit, which was held in Kazakhstan in 2015. Born and raised in Auckland, Holly has recently moved to Cambridge, the home of cycling in New Zealand, to pursue a full-time degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering.

Holly is the recipient of a coveted HPSNZ Prime Minister’s Scholarship, allowing her to both pursue her career as an elite cyclist while undertaking her studies at University of Waikato. Her busy schedule means “I'm at Uni every day, so my morning training rides start early, I'm often on the road at 4:45am, riding up to 80kms.” However, Holly loves the life and location she has chosen: “The Waikato roads are so awesome to ride... no traffic lights, just a bit of wildlife to dodge!”

The team at ebm-papst’s Melbourne office recently got the chance to meet the talented athlete. Holly was in town for a competition, where she had been selected to represent NZ at the Elite level over 4 days of racing. Holly: “I'm so excited to have the support of ebm-papst helping me "chase my dreams". I'm fascinated by engineering and I’ve learned some interesting things during my visit.”

ebm-papst A&NZ are excited to continue to follow Holly’s sporting and engineering career, and we are grateful to be able to sponsor such a brilliant female athlete.
