TRANSCRIPT
“Morales-Botero not only brings theFaces of the homeless to light on
film as he spends time on the streetsof the city, but he imprints their stories
on the hearts and the minds of theViewers. The stories of the homeless
resonate into the tale of “every man”, as he introduces homeless citizens who could be our
parents, our children, and even our own selves.” By Pamela Ruben
We are without a home, not a heart......
TAKE ME HOME
Ayden playfully wanders the park like any other 6-year-old kid but as the day ceases and the weariness increases,Ayden unlike others of his innocent age, had no home but that park. He, along with his family was displaced from his house. That's how Fabian Morales Botero, a Colombian filmmaker found him and was dumbstruckby his story. Perhaps allured by Ayden's vivid personality and his sweetness despite his circumstances, Fabian was moved beyond his tears, and to action.
“Take me home” explores the lives of several homeless whose stories will not only belie our prejudices but will bring us closer to their reality than we can imagine. “Take me home” drives light on a huge problem and delivers a big blow of human hope.
This documentary was started by a simple idea; a single man’s passion to use his art to raise awareness and its now heading a revolution around the nation. Fabian Morales-Botero (Director), Beth Davalos (social worker featured on “60 mins”), Arielle Metzger (16 year old girl featured on several TV shows as a homeless kid) and many more have joined forces, challenging society to come together and be aware of the new faces of homelessness.
Several Networks have praised Fabian Morales-Botero, “as the first Latin-American director to bring us a realistic approach that is often ignored by our American society; becoming one of the first Latino directors to document American indigence in the United States.”
Richard Peete, holds a master’s degree in Economics
Aiden Robinson, 6 year old found wandering on the streets
Raine Becker, brutally beaten on the streets, her story made headlines
The Characters…
Arielle Metzgler, featured on “60 minutes” as a homeless kid with her family.
Beth Davalos, (Social Worker) Floridian of the year 2013 nominee. Known as one of the strongest homeless advocates in the Nation.
“Spending more time with them, I felt more fully alive---perhaps the way our ancestors felt, nomadically moving from place to place, yet, with supportive companions, always. But, above all, I saw society at large clinging to the tired excuse---'only human'---intentionally shielded from that which we once knew, instinctively---that kindness and caring is 'only humane'; it was with them that I felt safe, it was by them that I was shown the greatest love I have yet to feel, it was with them that I became aware.”

Español: Ganador de el Premio a “Mejor Trabajo Humanitario” por el Ola Film Fest2013, de el Director
Colombiano FamorBotero.
