Imagine a group of women from 45 to 90 years old living in france and luxembourg who lovenothing more than to knit for others. But what if they don’t have anyone to knit for andtheir wardrobes are already full of knitwear nobody is going to wear?

One day these women get to know each other thanks to “Mamie et Moi”- Mamie in frenchmeans "granny"-They are proud to be a part of it, as here they can not only knit as theirhearts desire but also socialise with other grannies . They are happy to see that more and morepeople appreciate the beauty of this ancient handicraft.

The idea behind Mamie et Moi is to let the grannies’ passion for knitting, high quality wooland beautiful patterns become ethically produced fashion that finds their new owners.Thanks to our initiative, these knitting grannies earn a small complement to their income ,stay social, and active.

The Mamie et Moi collection echoes a rediscovered childhood; unique creations in timelessfashion with resolutely modern detailing.

our layette collection for 0-6 month-olds Our Grannies know a lot about bringing up babies, so every item in our Baby Collection isknitted in pastel colours with a 100% merino superwash yarn that is perfect forkeeping a newborn warm : bonnets, booties, cardigans, bloomers, long pants, blankets . . .every piece is hand-knitted with love and care by one or several of our grannies. Thiscollection includes different layette sets : matching booties and bonnet or blanket andteddy bear, a perfect birth gift for both girls and boys.

And also a collection for 1-4 year-oldsFor this summer, an exclusive line of light grey cotton and bamboo jerseys, with epaulettesand neon detailing !

details and finishing touchesOur grannies pay a great deal of attention to the finishing touches and our team double-checks every piece with them. We use yellow neon thread to attach our natural wood buttons.Last but not least, Mamie et moi's packaging is made with cardboard in order to limit ourecological footprint.

Spring Summer ...Our summer collection is fashioned from a mix of natural fibres: 30% cottonet 70% bamboo. This especially light, soft material can even be worn next tothe skin.

As to the colours, we’ve chosen to highlight a pure white and a luminouscloud grey as dominant colours, accented with colourful motifs inspired by60s hippy-chic.

Our rompers come with rainbow patches, our cardigans with fluffy cloudswhich can be mixed and matched at your pleasure; Jumpers with epaulettes, A mini campervan for little hands to squeeze, a decorative cactus.

Fall Winter ...

Our winter models are both warm and long-lasting due to our use of 100% wool -no synthetic fibres are used!

Our blankets and our stuffed bears are knitted and crocheted with Certified Organicworsted virgin wool, whereas other items are created from 100% italian merino.

Based on simple patterns, our Grannies dream up comfortable, delicate knittedarticles. The layette set is demure, knit in vintage pastel shades.For ages 18 months and up, we sew the buttons on with a splash of tangy-colouredthread (coral pink, lemongrass, turquoise, grass). Fine finishing details give acheeky, jolly look to these revisited fundamentals.

Encouraging productive ageing enables thiswealth, in its fullest definition, to be shared throughout our society. Having somethingvaluable to give makes people feel useful, connected and younger . It also helps to breachthe common belief that condemns the elderly to be a burden for the younger generations.Either way, retirement shouldn't lose its essence of just returns for a life well lived.

Mamie et Moi therefore advocates the case for local and "soft" economic initiatives basedon inspirational activities in which older people can engage according to their skillsand physical conditions. We believe the power of these local efforts will act as a sort of"acupunture" treatment to support values of a more human economy and to reinforceconnections among generations.
